Hello all,

Im planning to drive to Bentonville Arkansas in the beginning of oct. Planning on camping for 2 nights and staying in an AirBnB for 3 nights. Anyone do a solo drive like that or similar, if so, have any advice?

Thanks
JBake

I've driven solo cross country many times and have stopped at Bentonville. I took Rt 40 when coming from eastward directoin (NC) and a mix of local highways when coming from southward direction (TX). If you are coming from NJ, you can take Rt 70 to St. Louis then Rt 44 south.

Are you planning on driving straight through? Stopping at sites in between? Sight seeing?

Camping at Coler Preserve would be cool. October is probably the ideal time as far as weather is concerned.

I have nothing to add, but I wanted to say that I like it when I find out that a screen name on here is someone I have known for years.

5 nights for a 1200 mile drive? That's about the same distance to our place in FL. Solo I have done it in 2 days - 3 days is easy.

Yeah good clarifying question - is this a 6 day trip for ONE WAY? Or like...

Drive/camp/drive to ARK
AirBNB for 3 nights in ARK
Drive/camp/drive to NJ

Lots of redbull. If frequent bathroom stops become nuisance then 5 hour energy.

Escort Max 360, laser jammers, CB radio, digital police scanner, Waze, pedal to the metal.

It's going to be a 10 day trip. 4 days of driving. 2 days there and 2 days back.

Not sure if I will be stopping to check any sites.

Not sure about stopping for any site seeing, just want to head striaght there. Going to be camping first. Dont want to set up a tent in the dark, not fun...LOL

Is there any place that someone can recommend?

I drove to Appleton Wisconsin solo straight through in my younger days. It sucked and now that I'm old I wouldn't be able to do it. Good luck, sounds like an awesome trip

You can do it in just over a day. I drove to BC in 3 days from NJ with a dog. Day 1 to Des Moines, Day 2 to Bozeman, Day 3 Chilliwack. Just bring food, a towel, and a pee bottle.

I have driven cross country a lot. Once on 70 the roads should have little congestion. It’s just when you get near the major cities that you may run into traffic.

@Bizarro did this trip. He can give you some intel. I would leave at 4am and drive straight thru. Take a power nap around 5:00.

I drove straight through to Wisconsin to do a Fat Bike Race. Drove 22 hours. Raced for 20. Slept 4. Drove 22 hours back. Would not suggest.
