Sourlands Mountain Preserve Conditions

Rode here last saturday, trails were decent but a little slippery. I was in a DH mood, so i just hiked my bike up the mountain (center trail) and bombed down. Rode in control with no skidding 🙂

Friday night i did a quick after work loop on the 3Amigos side. Conditions were great but damn, it gets dark quick these days. Riding out of there with no lights was pretty scary. The leaves coming down made it even harder to find the trails in the twilight. There were a lot of trees removed after the hurricane but i noticed at least one where the trail was blocked. Right at the intersection of the bottom of "C" and the 3Amigos right around where the bouldering area is.

Good conditions this evening, rode the north loop, trail was dry. Unfortunately the new log ride at the top of the C trail has been cleared, but it was a fun addition while it lasted.

right now its not looking too good for riding. the sourlands takes a while to drain, especially the lower part of the mountain, and when its colder out, it usually takes even longer.

Has anyone been out this week. What are the conditions? looking to go out Saturday.

Made it out this afternoon, and it was pretty rough. Not too bad as far as wet goes (standard spots and not that bad in them), but probably 100+ trees/big branches down on the trails. Lot of on/off the bike to get around. And with the leaves down, lost the trail a couple times on 3 Amigos. If anyone gets out there with a chainsaw tomorrow, could be good Saturday. If not, ehh ...

There will be a major clean-up effort on Saturday morning. Hopefully we'll spread out and hit the majority of the trails. Info here:

Drain's poorly, but I don't think it should be too bad this weekend. Upper stuff will likely be fine. Plus, weather's supposed to be nice. I'm shooting to get out there tomorrow.

If the lower trails are bad, you could always ride the pipeline to the upper stuff. I'm sure they will be fine. Post a trail report tomorrow please.

Rode the north loop this evening, it was OK. The lower trail on the south side of the pipeline takes the longest to dry, but there's still leaves on that one so I don't think it'll be too bad this weekend.

Happy to report that the trails have dried up nicely as of this morning. Even the lower normally soggy trails. Come on out.

The top trails were dry enough to ride today, except for the usual muddy areas on red. The lower trails were not so good.

same conditions as above. i was not too psyched on the lower trails, but once you got about half way up the mountain things were good. only stayed on the 3 amigos side of the mountain though.
