Staten Island MTB

This Saturday Augus 16th:

We're going to ride MTB on Staten Island again.. There will be 2 rides joined together. The longer one starts from Warinanco Park in Elizabeth for a total of around 65 miles at 7.30am from the skating rink parking , the shorter one will start from the North entrance of the Greenbelt trails for 45ish miles or so. (Plenty of options to cut it short if the 45 is too long.)

The ride will be guided by the locals from Staten Island who have been building and maintaining the trails. They are awesome! (Trails and crew.) Expect a wide variety of terrain.

This is the ride we did in February:

Both groups will meet up at 9.00am and then ride the Greenbelt trails, some gravel and some road to get to the Wolves Pond Park trails. On the way back, the long ride will split off at some point to make it back to Elizabeth. Pace will be social, but not slow. (9 to 10mph/avg).

The weather on Saturday will be hot, so bring enough fluid. We will make refueling stops as necessary.

Gonna do my best to meet up with you guys!!! As for a social pace, I'm betting quite a few KOMs get clipped knowing the participants. 😉

I appreciate the effort but 99.7% of the people will immediately tune this out when they see the "short" ride is 45 miles. I would be interested in checking out some of the SI stuff, like Wolfe's Pond (is that right?). But maybe a normal 1.5-2 hour intro ride could be a little more enticing to people?

Just a thought.

Either one of the parks is an option. Willowbrook/Greenbelt has plenty of options with regards to distance, and Wolfe's Pond can be right around your time suggestion easily. Meet up at either is easy-peasy

We can arrange a meetup at Wolfe's pond if you like. It's what we did with a couple of people last time.
