Some thoughts ( and an occasional fact ) on immigration which will be a hot topic for many years to come.
1: most of the early laws/rules around immigration had a stated goal of maintaining the pre-existing distribution of nationalities and ethnicities.
2: politicians are very leery about fixing the laws around LEGAL immigration as that has an impact on VOTING which can hurt their career. letting folks in who can’t vote has less concern ( until their children grow up at least )
3: the rhetoric about undocumented immigrants taking massive benefits is a fairy tale just to wind people up
4: while undocumented immigrants do have a very measurable positive economic impact to the overall US economy that does not mean that they don’t negatively impact specific people ( ie: depress the salary for landscapers/drywall pros/etc )
5: As with most developed countries the number of children per family has dropped below 2.0 so immigration is needed just to avoid the economic crisis that happens with a shrinking workforce and I don’t think kidnapping Northern Europeans or white South Africans to US is the solution.
Lastly the H-1 visa program is crucial to the success of this country but it is super messed up right now. As a lottery we have lots of people using it to come into the country and take low value tech jobs for below market salaries ( which could otherwise go to US residents ) At the same time I had brilliant US college educated staff recently graduated from the best schools in the country who would not be selected in the lottery with a result that I would relocate them to canada or uk to work ( and thus a huge stream of future tax revenue and spending leaves the US ) these were very highly paid/skilled innovators that are a big loss to our economy

I am not a MAGA solider - I have noted a million times I would have rather had multiple other people in office. I don’t own any MAGA garb or signs. I have also noted I yearn for the days of having someone presidential in office. How that is “following someone blindly” I would like to know.
What I am questioning is the nonsense posted here - 90% of the garbage posted politically on this site is anti- Trump. Half of it is more ridiculous than Trump himself. Rick was banned for it - this board silenced someone we Socialize with because of his political beliefs - sure he was an antagonist at times, but there are several with different political beliefs that do the same and they are still here - absolute BS and the sole catalyst of me posting on this thread. I am sure the “discouragement” is coming.

Biden was my president and so is Trump. I love this country and the people in it, I am not going to route against it. If you think America is a hateful shithole I urge you to travel and see what else is out there - compared to 85% + of the world, we live in an accepting utopia.
Further, as @Norm mentioned - I would love a balanced budget, if DOGE helps get us there, I am for it. Cut, cut cut. Cutting spending is going to upset people, but I am for it. If you ever worked in the private sector and service the government I am sure you have examples of absolute wasteful spending just so an entity can retain their budget for the next year.
Living in South Jersey and dealing with AC electric and constant rate hikes, I am a bit pissy. I am sure the population shift, electric cars and growing technology is putting a strain on the grid, but it is getting silly - that has me hit a bothered too.
I'd like we spend zero dollars on armored Teslas, but I'd be curious how many GM armored cars have been purchased over the last few years, I bet it's a pretty high disgusting number. Annoyingly a quick google search only comes up with the Tesla news.

Pretty sure it wasn't Rick's love of Trump but his constant trolling. He'd low-key troll every thread. He wasn't over the top but if MTBNJ was a frog, he had us on simmer.

I agree with you - there are several that do this for the other side of the isle - they are still here.
From what I could see, Rick’s trolling was him fighting a mob. But since he was the one wearing orange in a crowd of people wearing white, he was banned.
At lunch the other day, with the crocs maga guy, in his dodge pick up truck, we drive past a tesla dealer and he says he thinks he wants a cyber truck now. If that isn't an example of brain washing / assimilation, I am not really sure what is. Again, fall in line.
In case you haven’t figured it out yet, the final goal it to get rid of the irs and pay for everything external revenue service( terriffs). All federal government support for the states is going away, social security and medicine/care are goners as well. If it doesn’t put your money in the pockets of the rich or protect the rich, it’s gone.

You have NO IDEA how many people are still on this board because I talked to the powers at be to stop the ban hammer....id much rather we have people arguing on here, then just everyone agreeing....but there has to be some level of respect. Funny thing...I have ALWAYS been a republican...my whole life....from the 90's until trump I voted republican, all the time....but Trump broke me...its one thing to vote for McCain and disagree with him on some things....but its another to vote for someone I feel is just a complete dipshit.
Let's be clear, all of the politicians are scum and I am not sure anyone would really dispute that. I think these conversations are a great of example of what is wrong with politics these days, it is one side or the other, there is no middle ground, there are no conversations, it is unfortunate. Trump fuels that divisiveness to the nth degree on top of being a grade-a scum business man. I grew up in red country and Trump fueling all the hate groups, the people I grew up with and wanted to be nothing like, is something I can never stand behind.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...
I have actually ridden with @SLIK RICK over a dozen times. He was a great guy to ride with (aka anyone slower than me.)
My mtb 'wife,' Russ only remembers him as the guy who showed up 28 minutes late at Ringwood, then had to take a dump.
This was the reason I stayed republican for so many years...They were always supposed to be the party that cared more about my tax money.....you know what I finally realized....All politicians just want to piss away my money, then laugh at me. And every politician just continued to spend more than the one before him. Now I will also say, that I became more aware of what govt. agencies like the FAA do...and while im sure they waste billions of dollars every year somehow....the end result of what they do is we have the safest skies on the planet by a country mile....which is what is important. If you want to tell me that the DOE spends billions and all of our kids are still idiots....fine....audit them, go before the republican congress and get changes made. Elon's slash/burn methods are all going to be stuck in court and if I was a betting man...the courts will eventually say "you want this shut down, go before congress"
Then we have the laws of unintended consequences using their method of just break everything first and we'll see what happens later......I know two medical worker at veterans hospitals who are getting canned, we have farmers now not getting paid because oh ya...USAID meant that we bought crops from our farmers to give to people overseas....there is going to be many examples of this that could have been prevented had you just done an audit and reviewed it.

100% - I take none of this personally - it’s politics. I don’t watch sports, so this is kind of my sports in a banter manner.
No matter what side of the isle you are on, I do respect your opinion. That goes for everyone on here.
I have learned a lot by discussing things, I would never want society to loose that or doing so in a civil manner.
Also - I would never want a full one party rule that goes on for years - checks and balances is huge. Pretty much all politicians once they go full time Washington are sticking it to someone.
