The AP is global in scope. I don't know if any other countries recognize the name change. Here's AP's official statement on the issue:
"The Gulf of Mexico has carried that name for more than 400 years. The Associated Press will refer to it by its original name while acknowledging the new name Trump has chosen. As a global news agency that disseminates news around the world, the AP must ensure that place names and geography are easily recognizable to all audiences."
Trump's reason:
Trump would later declare Sunday, Feb. 9 as “Gulf of America Day,” and said that he renamed the body of water to “restore American pride” during the early days of his administration.
Seems like an unnecessary symbolic gesture that accomplishes nothing tangible but will cause confusion and impose costs on the entities that keep track of such things.
All on Marco by the Hilton. Da Vinci and La Tivola were both good Italian. I'd probably give the edge to Da Vinci. We ate seafood at both places so no idea about more traditional dishes. Fin Bistro was really good too. I guess you'd call these fine dining these days. At least the prices are high. My wife complains that nothing is fine dining if you can wear shorts and flip flops, but welcome to 2025.
We didn't do Naples at all, nor do I have any real recommendations for casual food.
There's is a steak place in Naples, really good, and fancy but golf clothes work. I'll look it up. Capital Grill?
Snook Inn was fantastic sunset boat themed fun. Jimmy Buffett clone going at it at happy hour. Bathing suit and sweat shirt. Excellent food in a basket.
Go inshore fishing. No waves, lots of action.
We also went someplace east off the island

I have a hard time going to steak houses since perfecting my steaks on the BGE. I always end up disappointed.
My wife loved how safe the island is but not sure she could survive the political climate, nor the actual climate half the year.

Solid restaurant. The CFO of Bankrate took me to the MetLife Grille and Teleflex Controller bought steak in KoP.
Probably the best national chain steakhouse with prime beef. Not cheap but yolo.

Dr. Fauci developed therapies for formerly fatal diseases including granulomatosis with polyangiitis and lymphomatoid granumatosis and HIV to name a few. The only reason I knew about him because my wife who is a nurse worked in infectious diseases during the HIV epidemic where everyone would die. Now we have a trust fund baby who had a brain worm from I don't know what ahead of NIH with a measles outbreak and bird flu epidemic besides being a anti-vaxxer. Making America Sick Again. Biden pardoned non violent people for the record. He didn’t pardon the biggest crypto fraud of all time either. On the books, Biden sucked too, just not nearly as much as DJT.

IMHO Trump needs to media to be his villain as did Biden/Harris. Trump definitely plays this card more, but fairly the media has been more left leaning for a bit.

You can understand that the president removed the world's largest news organization bc they are still calling gulf of Mexico by its internationally recognized name? Does this give you that "Ya we're really sticking to the man now" feeling?
So how long until Trump just pardons Eric Adams since even his own appointed DOJ people would rather resign than follow his orders

So how far does the opposite go. Would you like the press corps and everyone else in the White House to just tell Trump, “no you’re wrong, we are not carrying out/acknowledging that”? Would that give you the sticking it to the man feeling?
If we start with the Gulf of America, where do we stop?

I have to throw this out there on your “internationally recognized” argument - the Biden administration acknowledged more than two genders - a handful of countries agreed while a vast majority of the world’s countries did not.
I take it you were not for more than two genders as well?
