In other sport forums I'm a part of, like Kayak Fishing for example, one of the key benefits of the forum for everybody is to post up when you plan to head out so that members can join and meet up with each other. It's great to not go alone as there is a safety factor to heading out with at least one other.

Is there a way to do that on this forum? Is there a "Meet Ups" element here where folks post when they want to head out to see if anybody else wants to join or it's more about just creating your own network of friends as you go? Is it not ok to post locations before heading out?

There really isn't a section on here for "meet ups", but keep your eyes on the rides and events section for sure for group rides. I have found more success meeting people for rides through Facebook's NJ MTB pages. Judging from your picture, you're in my neck of the woods. There is a Marty's group that rides Wednesdays at 5:30 - 6 PM from the shop. Join Marty's Facebook page and keep on eye out for announcements, they are night rides through DM at this point. You will meet some fun peeps there (including me). I usually ride DM, Tourne, Stephens, Wildcat and frequently put together smaller groups to travel outside the area. Feel free to hit me up on here if you'd like to meet up and ride together. Welcome !!!!

There's tons of organic impromptu meetups but @mattybfat 's e-bike rides on Sundays may be perfect for you. There's a monthly MTBNJ meetup ride that rotates around showcasing the different networks, keep an eye on the Meetup part of the forum. Then there's weekly rides like Wildcat Wednesdays.

Could be a decent idea for a thread: "Where I'm riding this week" or something, post up your ride plan/pace/timing and see if anyone wants to join in.

Need a "Short Notice ride thread." I tend to go when I can, not great on planning ahead. Hence my solo rides.

Usual Saturday morning crew isn't riding tomorrow. Where are people riding? Would love to get on a fast paced ride with some new faces. I was at the front of the pack on the "hammer ride" at Jungle Jam and would love to ride with some of the other people that were at the front. Unfortunately I...

Thanks for the info and, yeah, been trying to join the sunday e-bike rides and hope to be able to very soon. Will watch for the others as well.
