The 2025 Lawn Thread

The handlebar on my Scott’s spreader is not the correct diameter for my lights.

I’m way better at making excuses than playing bikes.
It took me 30 minutes for door to door, well worth the half hour when you see the results all season. The hardest part is buying a bag. It's on sale for $60 for 14,000 sqft at Costco. No long ago it we as $50 for twice the size

I would need 4 bags. That's why I justified paying for it cashier to get additional treatments

My OCD causes multiple issues with this, too long but maybe I’ll type it all out once the sun goes down.

That seems like a lot. I was def under applying when I was doing it my self. Not sure what the guy we have doing it this year put down.
Went back and pulled the ticket. My memory isn't what it used to be, but I wasnt that far off.

I can't buy the fertilizer and preemergent for what they charge. And if they stripe the lawn, they will fix it.

how hard did you negotiate with them?
I have about twice as much - but the price is way more than double.

I take the quasi Sirius XM approach. Call for a quote, say let me think about it, they call back, too pricey, still too pricey, and then a number that I'd like. Just make sure to tell them not to put you on Auto Renew or call at end/before season. I also got rid of the August service since I dont have sprinklers. Nothing like putting down pellets in a drought.

Total this year went up like $8.

Finally dropped my 2 Costco bags of preemergent this morning in 35 degrees (WTF?). Might be slightly late judging by my forsythias but at least a lot of rain is coming to soak it in.

And come to think of it, @Patrick i think my spreader was donated to me by you when i bought my house about 10 years ago now. Still kicking! I heart the mtbnj community 🙂

That's enough for a full acre! You sure you didn't over do it?

Always wanted one of these and Got this for a steal for $100 off FB MP. Guy switched to all battery powered and decided he wanted to get rid of it fast. These retail for $1500 new
And good used ones sell for $6-800 easy.

Needs a few minor things but I used it to “cut” the grass and take it for a test ride yesterday.

While it’s a beast and the 30” width will certainly make cutting the lawn go faster I’m not sure if it’s just too much mower for what I need compared to my 22” AWD Husqvarna Also maintenance is a little more complicated tho folded up it does fit inside my suv.
