Decided today was the day to go long and continue my monthly metric so I don’t have to ride that indoors.

I have a great endurance type loop that’s basically out and back but on the far end if I ride around Cozy lake road twice it gets me a metric once I’m back without too much more riding. The only downside today was on a Saturday there is definitely more traffic and a few spots were a little sketchy and narrow due to random snow piles. Went all hi viz to try and prevent any mishaps on the road.

Met some friends around mile 40 on the way back they helped pull and gave me a bit of a break. First real outdoor ride since last months metric on Jan 11th to see how my training is working. I 100% could have kept going if I wanted to but was getting hungry for some real food. And the wind was picking up a little.

Hoping for outdoors again for an easy ride tmw before the weather turns bad.

2/14 1:02 hr FTP Test

Second FTP Test since I started riding again 6 weeks ago. Better than I expected since I had really shitty sleep this week and especially last night (235W vs 223W I had set as a min goal - calculated as 20 min power x 0.95). Garming gave me a -4 Performance Condition at the start and I felt somewhat like that during the effort so I'm going to bump that up to 238W in my Garmin and TP settings to make sure I don't leave money on the table on the weeks ahead.

Should probably post this on the frown thread instead.

Nice easy recovery road ride with @Superfly100guy almost turned into disaster. Lady turned left in front of us from a stop sign at the last minute despite our blinking lights and hi viz clothing and we almost Tboned her drivers door. I braked a little late and my front wheel went between his frame and rear brake disc but then somehow I recovered and was able to brake hard and unclip without going down (or him).

I’ll take the damaged wheel over a crash any day. hopefully I can sand that down with fine grit sandpaper and make it better. We did another 15+ miles after that it was riding fine and not bent just scratched.

Lame picture of a snow pile because I didn’t take any others since I was so annoyed but very glad neither one of us got injured.

Rest day tmw.
