Yes, but I thought the ones in your photo looked bleached out and dried up. Hard to tell from the photo. Still, one helluva patch of chickens, last year's or not.

They are old chicken. Probably came up late last year, dried up and there wasn't enough moisture to decompose them.

This is other side of the trail from the photo above on May 3rd. The ones on the log from the 3rd are still there but a whole lot more now.
