funny story:
In geometry class in highschool, I solved an angle/length problem practically. I got marked off for not showing my work [yes, I know, that's the point, you need to know HOW], and my response, "but isn't that how a slide rule works, anyway?"
[editor's note: this was well, well, well after slide rules were in common use]

I don't remember not having it, so it has to be from my gearhead days in HS, and I don't remember buying it....maybe my Dad's?

The slide rule is 50-60 years old. I was taking drafting/mechanical drawing, and it was gifted to me by an uncle along with an old drafting set.
Sent the drafting set to the next cousin - kept the slide rule cause TI-30
