Things you love about winter

Yes I like the intensity that winter brings. I find it rewarding to go play outdoors despite frigid temps and snow adds a whole other fun factor. I'm not saying I would like winter 365 days of the year but I do like change.

I love that it's different. I love the challenge. I love that my living room is 80deg when it's 20 outside and smells like a campfire 😉
Love snow days and driving in the snow. Snow sports are an awesome change of pace.
I also love the first short sleeve day of spring. That enjoyment can only be had after a winter.
Though my newly acquired Reynaud's and losing 75lbs has made tolerating the cold very difficult.
But the worst, WORST part about winter is listing to people trying to convince me to go ice climbing. It's literally 50 times worse than cross racing talk.

I love @gtluke 's frustration when i constantly invite him to come ice climbing.

I love the formation of ice and how it changes on almost a daily basis, making it a different climb every time you go back, I also love that waterfalls freeze up and offer an entirely new way to enjoy them.

I love that the mountains turn into a brand new playground with possibilities for adventure only limited by your own drive and determination.

and strangely enough, i love being in a place in the winter time, most often near the summit of a mountain, just getting pounded by the wind and weather, knowing that youre at a place that you cant stay for long, but you at least get to experience something unique after a long effort. But every once in a while the timing is right and you find yourself on the bluebird powder day where its nothing but reaping rewards. I try not to get used to those days so i dont get soft.

I like getting out into the park in the early morning at sunrise and the coldest most challenging part of the day and also being the only one out there, or at least one of the few. I hike the different trails like the Appellation and others. The park workers know me as that crazy guy that is not deterred by cold and ice. I've been out last year at 12° below and snowy swirling winds and it's beautiful.

2 mile hike into the park last year.

Nothing beats the clear skies of the fall and winter in the pre-dawn hours. The slow fade from dark to night is so awesome.

I love riding in the winter. clear sight lines. frozen trails. less "traffic"

most of all, I love that invigorating burning in the lungs that stays with you hours after the ride.

but also, I love when winter turns into spring 😉

XC Skiing, Fat snow biking, paddling the surfski without power boat and jet ski traffic. But truth be told I would rather sweat than freeze any day of the week.
