This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Well I survived my trip to the panicked mass hysteria of people raiding the stores and I just don’t get it. Well thanks to the media and the equal amounts of misinformation posted online I guess it’s just a natural reaction to feel like you took action. But this is worse than ANY weather related event I have ever seen.

Got the dog food. Picked up dinner at the pizzeria which is mobbed because of Lent anyway. Got the dog food. Forgot the printer paper anyway. ??‍♂️

This must look like everyone else’s stores too. Oh the insanity.
Now I will go burn my clothes and take a 30 minute shower.

No love for Chocolate milk or flavored selzer?

Nope, it doesn’t work like that. And you just wanted to use the word discrete.

Italy, which I have direct experience with, was a case of Italians being Italians.

Government refused to impose travel ban and quarantine to the Chinese National returning from China calling it racist and xenophobic. Remind you of anybody?

In Tuscany, where I was born and grew up (not that much though) and my 77 years old mother lives, the Chinese community leaders asked the governor if they should impose quarantine on their fellow countrymen coming back from the homeland. They were told that it wouldn’t be appropriate. Well, those wise men took it upon themselves to instruct their fellow countrymen to self quarantine and even rented houses in remote locations to that purpose. As a result Tuscany had a low count of cases, cases that are mostly originated by Italian northerners that decided to ignore the recommendations of the government and moved to their second homes on the Tuscan coastal area.

On top of that people were not taking it seriously, ignored the Government recommendations to stay put and kept going to crowded places, watch football games in 100’000 seats full stadiums etc...until now, with hospitals incapable to provide the needed care to everybody that need it. Now they complain about the government poor response...because they were not forced to stay home earlier.

I feel you Leo. It is just an earlier start and the same response as the USA. Some people understood it, but there was no way to shut down the system with less than 100 cases. People called bullshit. The leaders compared the polls of opinion to the science, and opinion won.

If you'd like another conspiracy, it is better to lead out of a crisis than avert one.
I don't believe that was the thinking, I just don't think the leaders understood the math.

I guess Apple saw my photo of the empty stores in NYC and decided to close all stores for two weeks. Patagonia closed all stores and operations too.

My wife had to pop a Xanax after attempting to do some food shop yesterday. I've never seen her car so packed with bags yet say she couldn't find anything. No meat, milk, eggs, pasta, toilet paper, paper towels....

We do have lots of cereal, but since no milk we'll have to use all the alcohol she bought.

Kahlua and Coco Pops would be like a Crunchy Frappuccino. 🙂

I put my phone down for 12 hours and turned off my tv. Slept good. Read a book. Drank a beer. (Not in that order).

Today my wife and I plan to come up with some type of schedule to keep the kids busy for the next 2 weeks. Seems if we’re going to have to work from home, play teacher to 2 kids, be parents, and deal with the obvious stress, some structure will help.

Right after we come up with that plan we’re doing some god damned car bombs cause it’s St Paddy’s day party time.

Yeah, gonna need some structure. The kids pretty much think spring break is gonna be a month long. I’m not sure how this will play out with the online school, especially for the 5th grader.

Honestly when you think about it, society answered this problem by telling us to put our kids on the couch for a month with their iPads.

I can’t believe PA closed their parks. If all the state then local parks are closed this is going to be a disaster.

Clarified:
Events and just the parks in Montgomery and Delaware Counties are cancelled/closed

Apparently Germany, France and to a point the UK have decided to ride this thing, seal the borders and count on their hospital better capacity, no lock down as it happens in Italy. Personally, I think the hope of the ruling class is to weed out the sick and elderly and save a ton on government paid pension and health care in the long term. But I tend to be malicious. They also don’t really know how many cases they have on their hand yet. Thoughts?

sorry to hear this guys

this reminds me of my being in Batavia facility, two month ago
every time there is new detainees arrived, the health care team will runs testing the individual immediately 2 days after arrives

i remember when a guy in my unit was tested positive for Chicken Pox..all of us 60 peoples was immediately quarantined for 20days,the unit itself has to be disinfected with Clorox and they makes us do the cleaning,we cannot go outside to the recreation areas we have to stay inside the unit until quarantine is over and everyone mandatory get tested.

so,,consider yourself not so lucky since you guys will not have ability to self quarantine since you have obligations and businesses to runs,
so,you better start doing it,for the shake yourselves family and others,.so everyone should get tested voluntarily or .....
take care guys, the storm always will passed this too will pass, hang in there!!
