This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Interesting stats out of Cornell - caveat: this is written by an antivax student but the data appears accurate. He doesn't mention that nearly all cases are asymptomatic or very mild but seeing 5 times more cases compared to 2020 with 95% of students and faculty vaccinated really shows how contagious the delta variant is:

agree - very contagious.
the question still remains, what is the transmissibility in an asymptomatic positive while both parties are wearing a mask.

so the actual change is what they are doing outside the classroom? -
everything was closed last year. there were no concerts, food, sporting events, and everyone was being careful.

if a test says you are sick, but have no symptoms, are you actually sick?
we are swabbing noses here. what else is up there we aren't testing for, but could find?

oooh, cytotoxic. gee that sounds bad. kinda like the same spikes on the real virus that is cytotoxic, and can multiply.

Who knows but it seems pretty clear transmission is occurring in dorm rooms/apartments, parties, eating/drinking (bars), etc

Restaurants and bars were open. Just big stadium events were closed at that point.

Test is for the virus (well actually DNA from the virus). It is extremely sensitive so testing positive doesn't mean you are "sick". I would characterize having symptoms as being "sick".

Have no idea what your last paragraph is referring to!

Even if they were, who was going?

They tested my son/everyone before moving in last week. Masks required in buildings.

They will get tested every week.

Will Report back

He used a big word to make the vaccine seem scary

You think college kids weren't going to restaurants/pubs/bars/parties?? 🤣
In Pittsburgh, last year most bars were still closed. People who threw house parties were punished. This year it is a free for all and while vaccinations are "highly encouraged" there is no requirement. All classes, with a few exceptions, will be in person after next week. Masks required in all university buildings, but no social distancing in class.

I can change that slightly - they are letting people in who are willing to be vaccinated and have tested negative.

try not to let your politics get in the way of your brain.

Haha if only that were true - but wrong on both counts. Testing:

Vaccination - only required starting Oct 1. Of course, this only applies to those who get apprehended crossing the border.

Try not to let politics compell you to defend the indefensible!
