Tourne County Park Conditions

Great conditions on all upper trails yesterday, chainsaw needed at the top of sled run, also confirming saw needed on orange after the rock ledge going clockwise.

This is the tree on orange. I don’t think chainsaw needed, larger folding saw and some muscle would do the trick

Agree overall good. But avoid the purple trail. Standing water and mud for about 100 yards in its lowest spot. Very bad. Could use a reroute about 20 feet uphill to avoid the pooling.

1 large tree, and a smaller one down on purple. Take swoopy to the end and the small tree is down the right on purple, and the large one down the left side

Rode the Tourne today for the first time (outside of Winter) in a long time. The new stuff by that shitty old gravel loop by McCaffrey Lane is pretty awesome. Great job @Berms&Boofs and all the volunteers that helped! That stuff plus the orange loop around the mountain and that old blue trail we resurrected a million years ago makes the Tourne a pretty decent spot. Thanks!

Ran into (almost literally) a big bear on the red switchbacks tonight. I was going up as the bear was going down the closed fall line trail.
After I backed off and we reached an unspoken understanding, he continued down and I set a PR going up 😆😆
Trails were in good shape, but plenty of sticks and branches down . Nothing blocking the trail.

Bet you woulda got the kom if he decided to follow you

I been hearing a lot of bears at Tourne lately.. hopefully walkers will keep their dog(s) on leashes so the park won’t closed down again.
I never encountered bears at Tourne , but always at Morris of Lewis

I saw a bear and cubs in the spring so I am on the lookout. Squirrels are remarkably loud.

before I saw him, I was more worried about a branch coming down on my head.
That's why my bikes stayed in the garage after work yesterday, that wind was intense up in the township and I had a nice mess on my property to clean up too.

It seems that the bears are hanging around the same area. There were two today near the orange dot / purple intersection.

Conditions were good except for the overgrowth on the red switchbacks and pink. One positive of the overgrowth is that the wineberry crop will be abundant this year.

Great conditions at Tourne today. Leaves have started coming down but not bad yet. After work ride ended early with sunset at 630. 😢
