Verizon Droid

I've had the little Droid since Xmas and I love it!! The only app that I've had some issues with is Google My Tracks, I try to start it at the beginning of every ride but more times than not, it won't find me.

And I just got Pandora, which rocks!!

Hmm I've had no problems with My Tracks. Great program. I find it much easier to manipulate the Google maps then using my Garmin & GC web site. I wonder if your problem is related to a weak GPS signal, not a problem with My Tracks?

I love this phone. My tracks gave me problems once, but my whole phone got whacked on that ride. I think restarting the phone on occasion may help. Also, fire up my tracks once you're outside and let it think while you're getting ready, it should have your location by the time you're done. For the road rides I like to save my planned route as a google map then pull it up as a layer before I start the ride. I use the map as my reference and let my tracks run in the background to record everything.

Not sure. Do you have the HTC Droid?

Just picked up a droid last night. Loving this thing so far, but it is freezing up on me, making me not love it so much. I have been getting a lot of App Not Responding, Force Close/Wait messages. Why?

Assuming this is the Motorola...

Are you using a task killer?

What apps did you install?

You might want to bring it back if the answers are "No" and "None"

Mine has force closed on a few things here and there, but its a rare occasion.

Also, does your Droid have the 2.01 update? (Menu>Settings>About Phone: Firmware Version)

Something kinda interesting. The Google maps app finds me and then when I zip over to My Tracks, it doesn't...Weird...

Hmm. Very strange. You are using a Droid Eris? I wonder if it could have something to do with the older Android version (1.6?) that is on the Eris right now. That's the only thing I can think of. I know it's supposed to get ver 2.1 one of these days.

I just heard that Verizon is going to launch a new Google phone that supports flash. My wife the Dro id and she get annoyed because she thought it would be a mini computer, shes not very techy and just plays the games that came with it(What a waste).
Anywho, whats the best way to view this site, seems a pain in the arse to zoom in to pick a topic?

I view the full site, you'll get used to it. There is a mobile version, if you want to try it out, but it doesn't have all of the regular features.

Supposedly flash for android is coming out some time in 2010

Very cool. I was told the new google phone will have an updated version of Android. Should be interesting, I'm not sure if Google makes any other phones yet

Today I was pretty much set that the Droid was going to be my new phone. I had done some reading about the nexus but with little real world reviews I was unsure bout it. Once again I ask for your opinion. 😀 Wait for Nexus or Droid NOW!

I really like my little Droid and would recommend it. But, on the flip-side, I don't pay too much attention to things without wheels or boobs and therefore have no idea if there is something cooler in the works. But then again, on the flip-flip-side, with technology once something is released there's already been something cooler in the works to replace it in a month anyhoo😀

Looks like the Nexus One is coming to Verizon in the spring. I like the sleeker look of the nexus, and the absence of a keyboard...But the trackball looks annoying. Also, the Droid is fairly heavy, not sure about the nexus.

Here is a quick review of both:

The Motorola Droid will get Android 2.1 some time soon, so that shouldn't be much of a factor. If the prices are coming down on the Droid, I'd say go for it because the experience isn't going to be very similar on both phones.

I wonder if anyone who has played with both the droid and the nexus one can chime in? 😀
