Vertical Earth Gravity Park, Blue Mountain, PA

Opening Day is just a week and a half away (on May 22nd)! Who's gonna be there?? I know i will be! There's also a Super D race on opening weekend. The following weekend on 5/29 i will be trailguiding if any mtbnj folks want a personal tour.

If I ever get my shock back from California, I will be there.

Crap bry. Sunday doesn't sound good. I want/need to be at the SL TM on saturday which leaves no time to go to VEGP for practice runs on saturday...

More exciting details about Opening Weekend:

"Confirmed this morning, made the hotel reservations for Brian Lopes for the Super D race this weekend. Sicklines and Jamis will be here along with a couple other vendors. All the trails have really come together along with the two jump parks. Little behind schedule with the pump track but it won't be long. The schoolbus step up is a ton of fun and pretty easy. Ewok Village now has 9 table tops with a new entrance to the park.

FYI, if you bought a pass you can get it early by going to the Summit Lodge before 3:00 Wed, Thurs, Fri. Otherwise we will be open and ready at 9:00 am on Saturday."

Good time at Blue this weekend! The weather actually cooperated even tho the forecast said it wouldnt. Next weekend i will be there again. Avoid the US Open circus at Diablo next weekend and come ride Blue with no lines! Oh and if you go, bring tubes. Those rocks are mean.

Sounds like a good time g - any pics/vids from the weekend? That jump line looks so much fun - even with a hardtail that one guy wasn't bouncing around much.

Yeah, the jump run with the bus is a lot more buffed out and HT friendlier than last year. Last year the tables were like motocross size and impossible to clear. This year they're more reasonable. The bus is super easy too. You gotta watch your flow in there tho because they haven't dialed in the jump lengths yet. I saw one dude do a death nose wheelie after overclearing the last jump and somehow rode out of it.

My buddy had a helmet cam and took some good DH run vids so i'll try to get those from him. I was too busy riding to take any pics tho. Maybe next weekend.

Updated Infor about the 1st DH race weekend June 5th. DS changed to another Super D:

"Due to some construction we are going to postpone the first DS race. Of course the DH Race on Sunday is a go. The course will be on last years Gravity East course " Mile of Smiles. " There is a new middle section that keeps you in the woods and sends you thru a chute with a fun drop into lower Smiles. Great course for any Gravity rider The Super D course will be the same course we ran the last weekend. This was a great race. Yes we had low numbers but everyone was super stoked and asking to run another race. The run to your bike is no more, however, the mas start stays the same. It's pretty much like riding with your buddies. Alot of fun but with good competition. There is plenty of open space to pass and lots of course to catch up, pass, whatever.....any whiners out there buck up or shut up It's all good fun and and a great trail to send it at your own pace.

Apologies to anyone ready to race DS but were dedicated to the same product as last year. We look forward to the first DS Race July 24th under the lights at the Blue Mountain Fat Tire Festival."

There are 2 jump parks that are good for hardtails. The problem is you have to ride some steep gnarly DH trails to get to them unless u wanna hike up from the bottom. The DS track will start getting built soon and that will be another option eventually. The DH trails are not really HT friendly. The Super D trail is HT friendly as long as you're comfortable with a few rocky tech sections. Here's a DH trail:

Was there this Sunday and had a blast. way different than Diablo, more natural and off camber with knarly shoots and rocks galore.
Bouncing between Blue and Diablo will be great as I am an hour from each.

They had a tour guide there to show you around which was cool as well. George, if you read this thanks for showing us Miles of Smiles and Turkey Belt as they were fast and flowy compared to the forearm wrenching stuff that we were riding all morning.

You are welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed our mountain. My forearms were sore all day sunday too but i had a lot of fun.

Here, i found someone's helmet cam footage of the Super D race course. This is currently our most beginner run at Blue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cecCdFEnCZI
