Wawayanda State Park Conditions

A little softer today but still good on the snowmobile tracks.

Get slightly off line and you end up buried, still fun.

Pete,

The area where they are cutting out the Ash trees is really packed down and should survive the warm up today. I road up and down laurel a few times and it was a slog but after the 3rd run we had packed down a 10 inch wide path, if a few other people or snowmobiles hit it tonight or early tomorrow we may still have something to ride when the temp drops again on Friday morning.

Ya mean I gotta hold a 10" line! I have trouble with 18! 🤪

This afternoon it started to, unsupriseingly, suck pretty hard. I could follow Pete's tracks on Hoff to IMR, but would still sink in repeatedly. With the exception of at night, or early morning, I dont see things getting much better in the coming weeks.

OK @jimf I packed down Laurel this morning. Thanks for the incentive to do it, a Great sunrise.
This was the toughest ride up in a while, and only doable on a fat bike. I went off line twice and had
to restart, which is a bitch. My five inch tires did the job and now there is another 10 inch path. 😛

If anyone wants to play, the campground by the beach area is getting tree work and they made some play trails there.

considering going tomorrow morning.
Is iron mountain loop a snowmobile track or has it been F'd up by quads and 4wheel?

I haven't tried it lately, I bet Iron Mt is OK for a while, but when it turns to Hoeferlin I think it's messed up.
Quads & trucks

Spent 3.5 hrs in there yesterday in superb conditions for fatbike only. I'd say another 2 weeks of fatbike only riding in there for sure...

Holy crap 3.5 hrs! Where did ya ride? It all seemed too soft for me, even with the fat bike. I tried Laurel and gave up. 😀

3 of us rode all of the sled tracks and sitting bear and then buck a bear which l
Sleds have gone way out into and back. Only thing I can suggest for you is to find better tires and lower pressures or maybe easier gearing? .. we didn't have any issues

Wow, great job! I'm glad to hear how well it worked for your group.
