What beer are you drinking RIGHT NOW?

Vermont - Beer Country???

My bro from Burlington/Montpelier region keeps bringing me the most outrageous brews from Central/Northern VT. Makes me want to do a bike tour there this summer, particularly since you can't get this stuff down here (unless you got a bro like mine)... Among the standouts:

- Heady Topper (The Alchemist, Waterbury)... This legendary gold in a can is making such a serious splash among IPA fans, the folks at The Alchemist Brewery (same guys who owned the brewpub - now turned exclusively to brewing after Hurricane Irene) are supposedly tripling their canning operation... GOOD NEWS for the rest of us, and maybe the gold may begin to flow south?

- Maple Nipple (Lawson's Finest Liquids, Warren)... Oh my, it's like it's fresh-brewed straight from the tree, this brew comes literally from the maple groves of Sugarbush... This is a wonderful, sweet (but not too sweet) darkish amber with just the right amount of hoppiness and kick.

- Edward (Hill Farmstead, Greensboro Bend)... Montpelier local beer hero (and former Jersey boy) Scott Kerner owns the Three Penny Taproom. He served me up an Edward, and I didn't leave my seat for a few more hours... An amazing American Pale Ale that grabs hold of you (and won't let go), Edward is brewed in a small family brewery, which was recently named by RateBeer.com as the "Best brewery in the world".... pretty lofty title for a tiny brewery out in the Northeast Kingdom.

Whole lotta brewin goin on up there... and the Taproom is a must-visit place... yes indeed... And say hi to Scott for me.

3 Magic Beans

Had sixpoint's 3 beans again tonight,
and I have to say I'm changing my vote-
I think this tops Founder's breakfast stout.
Talk amongst yourselves.

Had a six point sweet action last night. I wasn't impressed, it didnt taste like much of anything to me. Haven't had any other cream ales so I have nothing to compare it too

Why is that??? Never had three beans but now I will have to scoop some up...

I think I'll say it's the more robust coffee flavor,
and a little less syrupy than Founders. Not that Founders is overly so,
but 3Beans drinks cleaner, and packs a lot of flavor in a nice balance.

So with all the raves can you get Heady Topper anywhere around here?

Tim

Monday night I will be at my parents which is 15 minutes from barley sheif rd... I will roll thru to pick up that bike... I will bring you some Heady Topper... To answer to your question, it is only available for pick up and limited to 6 cases per person... It pops up in Nyc but when the word gets out it goes fast

Tim:

If you're willing to pop down to Lambertville, I've got one in the fridge with your name on it. In fact I plan to crack one open soon.... it's after 3PM.

Bobby,

Wow, thanks for the offer, I was on kid duty so I didn't get the message until now. Maybe I'll catch up with you some other time.

It's waiting for you. I think you have my address, but I'll PM you with it and my #.

P.S. I think we can work out a discount for beer. 😀
