what is your riding experience skill level ?

I always think of myself as a beginner even after 35 years of consistent riding. Its too easy to be a Big Fish in a little pond, there is always someone more skilled and more fit if you look hard enough!

If I base it solely on my Strava which I use at most intermittently, I'm middle to lower middle on most segments time wise. I've been riding 6Mr for a long time and I still can't break a >10mph avg speed. Consistently 7-9mph averages but like others have said at CR or even more so Sourlands that 7-9 drops precipitously.

I have been hard at work trying to get skilled enough to unzip my windbreaker while riding my road bike...still cant though...maybe another 10 years.

My goal on the road bike is to be able to ride without touching the handlebars. I can't go more than a few pedal strokes before starting to lose balance

not related, but i like data visualization of an experience...

So after walking over a couple logs at last night's Allaire beginner ride, I decided to challenge myself to try the next difficult (to me) feature, which ended up being a steep incline. ALMOST made it to the top lip, before I fell over. But hey, at least I challenged myself. Next I'll challenge myself to do those logs that I walked.

I am eh. I can get over stuff, and do all that I need to do within reason, but it ain't always stylish. My biggest lack of game is doing things at a slower speed. Its all technique and the flaws come screaming out. As said before, speed can definitely mask my flaws. I ride with some fellas that really know how to move a bike and I have gained a lot from following behind them. But I have not picked up their skills purely by osmosis. bummer.

Same kind of boat - right now I want to get some kind of cornering technique.. like on something like the Micks Trail at Allaire, there a couple tight turns I find myself braking into and then practically doing a standing start - I am thinking that guys that are getting great times on that trail are not doing that.. though they may be and just rip at starting again.. I need to ride behind someone in those types of trails who kill.. then again.. they may get too far ahead, I may not see anything but remnants of dust lol

Go ride 6 mile run. You wanna improve cornering? Go ride 6mr. That place is ALL about cornering like no other local place and it ain't even close
