Wildlife

Some weird ones at Allaire were what appeared to be a baby coral snake (a pet that was dropped off is my guess) on the orange trail, and a tarantula on one of the bridges on the river trail across the street (also assumed to be an abandoned pet, it was nine inches by nine inches...huge!).

Saw two very large, pretty Red Tailed Hawks at High Mountain Preserve while in the lot waiting for a friend. Seen lots of hawks but not this big! Eagle shots were great Woody - I have to ride RV more so I can se one! Never saw one in the wild - only at Raptor Trust.

:scared:

As for bald eagle sitings in NJ: Bald eagles can sometimes be seen at 6M and along the canal path near princeton. There is a platform that was built there (where the canal path goes over the river over a long bridge) for them to nest on and I have seen bald eagles fishing in the river there.

My 4 year old saw a mouse on the floor of Home Depot - just before my wife said "Where?" and accidentally stepped on it. She screamed so loud 3 clerks came running over to us! (So that's how you find help in Home Depot.) Anyways, the little bugger scurried off and seemed no worse for wear. My wife on the other hand... 😀

Spooked a coyote that had bedded down for the night in a local nature center.
I guess my tax dollars are working.

Just seeing this. Very cool.
Found something similar in my driveway over the winter.
The marks from feathers (not as complete as this), and then maybe some smaller birds little feathers.
Took me a second to CSI it and figure out what it was...

Saw this little guy at Kittatinny this morning tree hugging midway out on white after the climb from the parking lot at the Y split.

I seem to see more snakes on the roads than on the trails. Fine by me as they are easier to see and avoid.

NOt sure what type this guy is.

Trail Camera - coyote

Wife bought me a trail camera last Xmas, so I placed it up on the top of Pierson's Ridge well off trail, for weeks at a time. Caught this crappy night photo (infrared mode?) of a coyote. The camera also takes 10 sec. videos after the still is taken, but by the time the video function kicked in, the coyote was gone out of frame....just passin' through. Got some awesome video footage of a bear as well, raccoon too. Can we post video here???? This toy is awesome because it catches a lot of the "shy" type of wildlife we ride near daily, but they sceedaddle (that's a technical term we use in these parts) as soon as they see, hear, smell, feel us coming. This is why I know "they are more scared of us that we are of them"
