WTF is wrong with people?

Bike N Gear

Shop: Bike N Gear
Shop Keep
I'm sure this will get pulled, but @jShort was 100% correct about certain bicycle shops.

As everyone is aware, I just closed my shop yesterday.

Chris my mechanic has worked out a deal to run a repair business out of the basement.

Chris named the shop Bilco Bike Repairs.

Chris was just contacted by Bilco Door Co that an individual "from Pop's Bicycle Shop in Somerville" reached out to them to notify them that someone here might be infringing on their logo. WTF.

logo or name?

quick google search does show a number of other business with "bilco" as their name

Bilco Roof Access
Bilco Air Cooling and Heating
Bilco Brick
Bilco Antifire Engineering
Bilco Tools

^i have no idea if any of them are related to or are some sub-company of bilco (basement door company) tho

Or just call it Sargent Bilco Bike Repairs.

There are a few shops in this state that make it very difficult for others.

I was getting deep into a post with the other thread but did not have the energy. For some brands, going the direct to customer route is a good way to protect their brand for certain types of customers.

Not to derail this thread but, having customers order bikes straight from the internet and pick up in store really does make for a significantly less stressful transaction on our end. A lot of people feel like we’re pushing bikes we have in stock that are the wrong size or wrong type of bike, etc…Them coming up with whatever option they landed on on their own removes a lot of that friction and makes for a much better relationship moving forward.

And if there does end up being an issue, they didn’t buy the the bike from us so they really can’t complain about whatever our solution is. The alternative is calling the company and dealing with that shenanigans…Even with the company we are owned by.

Carry on Bilco.

Nope. Email and phone calls were from the guy who takes care of legal matters. He was pretty chill about it. Logo will be changed and he's going to run it by them just in case.
If he’s Ok with it (minus the behind the back stabbing) that’s great, I just don’t see how a bike repair shop could possibly infringe on a windows business…because of dealing with frames?!?! In any case, if this Bilco is big enough to actively monitoring the name thing, the shitbag that ratted him out may have done him a favor, better change now that once the business is well on its way and he gets the call ‘hi, we’re from Bilco and you need to change your business now or else…’
