Still a bit premature, but when this thread officially gets closed due to end of pandemic, can there be a big celebratory MTBNJ ride? Call it the "Rick Was Right Ride" or something, I don't care. I'll even get my disabled ass on a bike and ride with you fast guys (and girls). (Oh, and mandatory proof of vaccination please.)

That's great news but I'm still wearing a mask at crowded areas (train, stations, etc.) and everyone else too. Sneezing germs everywhere was not okay and is not okay and should not be okay.
The people I know who have not been vaccinated yet have chosen not to. They haven't worn masks unless forced to. Not going to change their minds now.
As long as we have a big makeout session at the end.

Remember, CDC is still making the mistake of ignoring the 30% of the US population that has already had covid. They have the same immunity as those vaccinated and also no longer need to wear masks or social distance:

I'm sure much of the world will look like Japan has long before covid with a significant number of people wearing masks around others - planes, trains, crowds. Tho Japan's proclivity for mask wearing didn't prevent their 3rd and now 4th (and largest) covid infection wave...

That's the big unknown. They should have prioritized vaccination for only those not previously infected but another ship that has sailed

my 16 year old got her second shot on Sunday. That night got chills and woke up with a fever. Mid day Monday, felt fine
Getting my 14 year old her first shot next week
I had no issues wearing the masks and my anti-social personality actually liked it.
One downside of restrictions being lifted is that my neighbors have started to want to talk again. I've enjoyed the year of being left alone

Is it bad (and I feel guilty) to say that I'm really okay not going out to eat or parties or live events or bars or going into the office
It wasn't a big part of my life pre covid and haven't missed anything. We can axe kid's friend's bday parties. I'm totally fine with that.

Considering their cases/1M is 5k and US's is 100k I'm sure it didn't hurt either. They're also 10x more dense than the US.
Rate would be 10% not 30%, at least official numbers.
So what's the ethics on ratting out people who aren't vaccinated? Our non-vaccinated neighbors are throwing a garage sale with a party to follow tomorrow. They invited everyone on our block in an ongoing group text. My wife and I know they aren't vaccinated. Everyone else assumes they are vaccinated because they socialize more than anyone. My wife has told one or two neighbors who are super careful about Covid.
My opinion is "who cares." If you are vaccinated and maskless, you have nothing to worry about. If you are unvaccinated and maskless, then you know you are taking the risk of running into other people just like you. Life is risk management.
