Airplanes can be swapped and taken out of service for weeks while they repair the problem...not so easy for ski lifts.
True but ski lifts are also not 6 miles in the sky, thank god.

The exit off the quad at Blue is not cut in right - the downhill starts after the chair begins to turn.
I was sitting inside seat, and almost got taken out by the chair coming around.
Also, being on the north side, most of the mountain is in shadow by 2:00. Given the amount of ice here, that makes seeing the snow/ice transitions was more difficult.
A few years ago, had the same thing happen at Elk. Friend and I actually considered dropping from the chair after sitting for an hour. Both of us had to pee. Ski patrol was repelling everyone down. They stopped at the chair in front of us because the lift was operational again. They would have really had their work cut out from both of us being 240lbs each.Yikes! I was just there two days prior and spent the day on that lift!

And you have Bromley across the way basking in the sun.
no im sorry, as a mechanical engineer...BULLSHIT to any excuses. This is a industrial piece of equipment that can be any size and made using any material....safety...and more to the point...FAIL-SAFE conditions should not involve people repelling down off of ropes. Im sorry, thats bullshit. Its not a jet that has to be light and operate at 40,000ft in -60 temps going 550mph......If it needs a bigger gearbox, make it bigger....make it hold more oil....it is turned off for at least 12 hours of every day and for at least 7 months of the year. Its not public transportation, its owners rake in BILLIONS, and people can and do get hurt and die on them.....the fucking thing should ALWAYS work. And if it fails, have an auxiliary system that can be engaged quickly. I mean we as skiers/boarder tolerate all kinds of bullshit from the ski industry, this should not be one of them.I think in theory, sure. Only problem that in practice you're running complex machines in extremely harsh conditions for 10+ hours a day. Airplanes can be swapped and taken out of service for weeks while they repair the problem...not so easy for ski lifts.
You are really, really old. Wow.

Yeah, but we have an Ikon pass which means Stratton is free, Bromley is not. Stratton is like a hotel - ALL THE FREE ICE YOU CAN EAT!
if you are looking to chase the snow, follow northeast skiology on facebok. the moderator can be a crank but he will continually update.I was planning on driving tomorrow and skiing Thursday and Friday. My target location keeps moving. Figure I won't decide till tomorrow.
That snow forecast is TOTALLY different from Wunderground and NOAA, but who knows.

lol...think about this for a second....the fact that it can free wheel backwards is crazy - elevators don't just drop if the cable breaks.
Airplanes also glide - in case you want to land in the hudson or something.
HAHA thats for sure.the moderator can be a crank but he will continually update.
Ya that is too bad, I always loved bromley way more than stratton....but free is better than not free.....well in your case...4 ikon passes free LOLYeah, but we have an Ikon pass which means Stratton is free, Bromley is not. Stratton is like a hotel - ALL THE FREE ICE YOU CAN EAT!
Parking has been an issue with the extra passes and changes to the village shuttle. Arrive early (upper lot is typically full by 830) or park at Jackson Gore. If anyone in your group needs gear. take care of it in town. Also cant seem to nail down anywhere for the most snow, we decided on Okemo Sat-Sun. The drive up on Friday night should be exciting.
IKON pass holder here as well. Just mentioning about it as it always appears to be sunny over there.

Fun weekend in Sugarbush. Lift ticket prices were ridiculously high, but no lift lines on Friday and only the brave came out on Saturday to ski -18 temperatures.
Eating at mad taco every night is worth the drive to the valley alone.
