Format of the first post has been updated.
Added @Dave Taylor, @xc62701, and @Stef 's events
Added a few other NYSMTB events

When did Peter Pounder become NYSMTB? That name is kind of Awful and could probably benefit from a rebranding (new name).

Added.

And another terrible Name. They should call it Nacho instead and somehow incorporate Nachos at the race. I would probably go to that....

My tentative schedule:

Rattling Creek Marathon- April 2nd

Iron Furnace Endurance- April 30th

French Creek (on the Rocks)- May 13th

Bear Creek XC- June 4th

Challenger XC- June 17th

Bulldog Rump- July 23rd
FYI, all those races have tech and can be challenging, except The Challenger.

That's all I ride up here, not super worried tbh. I also have no expectations this year and will probably aim for 10-15 mile categories. Looking to just find a baseline for racing and go from there.

yeah, it's an acronym
My Actions Can Help Others
I guess some of the fees go to charity? Dunno.

Have you registered for the Rattling MTB Marathon? If not, there is no short course race because the long course race sold out and registration is closed. Wait list for long course only available.

@jShort Rattling is a MASS series race.

Crap, you're right. I remember that thread when registration opened up too...oh well. I'll do Mayhem as an easy way into XC racing I guess and waitlist RC in case people drop.

Mayhem is underrated. Its gotten much better. They have added a ton of singletrack, the course flows great and is very dialed in.
Its a very painful race because there are no downhills to recover, but depending on your skill set that could be a positive or negative.

As it gets closer, i'll preview the races and give a description of the ones i've done (and hopefully everyone else can feel free to add their own descriptions)

I completely agree but why is it so damn far for the northern folks! That’s usually the dealbreaker for me. Endurance would be the only option worth the drive.

It’s a little over 90 minutes from me so it’s not terrible. I’ll do the endurance again this year.

I thought I would go nuts with boredom doing endurance….but I decided to focus on everything but where I finished in the race. Things like tires, what I wore, nutrition, staying smooth , keeping steady power… and I found myself in such a zen mindset for those 4 hours…. I’m really looking forward to doing it again.

This is a great race. No hiding. Very similar to cathedral pines imo. ZERO climbing
