Camp Cromwell property

The D&R Canal is a big ass strip of state park land that is what it is. If someone gets buzzed by a biker there's nobody to complain to about removing it.

Cromwell is a tiny park situated in a residential neighborhood. The locals walking there will complain if they don't like stuff. Hell, they already called the cops once on people riding there.

You can't compare these 2 parks.

Oh, I was just making the point that it doesn't matter how much room is given, people will still get in each other's way.

While it’s not a panacea, a simple smile, wave, greeting or bell ding works wonders to defuse the risk of negative reaction from local walkers. Bonus if they have a dog and you stop to let them by and/or offer the dog a friendly petting ( with owner’s permission)

I mean, it’s the same etiquette that applies on all of the other trails there. If you’ve ridden white or red on a weekend you know how the traffic is.
I think what’s different with the gravel road is that’s really going to be the first thing that’s specific to hikers/walkers. Hopefully, they’ll give the same courtesy and keep off the Stop sign and Shed trails as being bike-only and we keep off the gravel.

My question about the uphill trail wasn't about avoiding the gravel but mainly because it’s a phenomenal downhill and kinda sucks to lose it as one.

Also, another thought on the gravel and locals, there’s been a few times I’ve been there that I’ve seen people on hybrid-esque bikes riding the gravel path. I’m guessing those are the same locals/neighbors that will yell at the clouds when us MTBers come flying through. One guy I’ve seen twice.. the lack of helmet made recognizing him easy. 🤦🏻. Signage is going to be important to try and provide guidance once it’s opened. Sadly, most people don’t know of this awesome forum to see how things should be handled.

The new climbing trail is not the same as the awesome downhill I think you are referencing. It's partially reclaimed original trail which was NOT awesome downhill along w/ newly carved trail that didn't exist to link it all up.

Speaking of new, first time hitting that new table on the new entry to shed, and as a self proclaimed AWFUL jumper, hit that thing clean first try. Very nicely built!

Are you talking about the trail that parallels Brookside at the bottom of the camp? Like @rjr44 mentions about, I think maybe we weren't all talking about the same thing.

The U-turn onto the Shed-specific climb that goes literally to the shed then down the Shed DH is basically 1-way. HTS811 - this is sort of where we talked that day. From the highest point of Shed, there is technically only 1 way to go down. Going down the trail with the actual shed on your right is not preferred/ideal.

Once we're done I will fix TF and give these trails all names. At this point shit changes way too fast to go redo TF every 2 days.

This is the one I’m talking about - poorly traced in green.… you come in and cross the gravel and go straight up the single track and around the old baseball field. You can continue to the well or basketball courts from here.

If there’s another climbing trail, aside from this and gravel, I haven’t found it yet.

yup, we're talking about different trails...come into the park, hard left onto the gravel for a short bit, entry to climbing trail is across from exit of shed trail...highlighted from my ride today below, traced in red, it kinda sorts runs along the gravel path:

Got it.. ok, if that’s the trail that’s changing, sweet.. I know that section.
From the riders I’ve seen there and spoken to - they don’t take that though. Only regulars would know how to get to it. They go in, see the entrance to the one I referenced right in front of them and start climbing up. (Or take gravel around).

the one you are talking about is a valid climbing trail, 2 way traffic and all of course...the new one is more for easily sessioning shed and stop w/o minimal energy loss due to climbing (which is why many use/d the gravel path)

Yeah - Kirt and I discussed this exact thing on Tuesday.

The whole entrance to the park from CR "proper" will be redone soon, and then we'll blaze it, maybe put up some arrows, etc. Going into Cromwell and climbing Western (this is what you highlighted in green, we refer to it by the very VERY original name of Western) is not the most-awesome into to the park for newbies. We'll generally user them left.

The whole outer loop is both directions.

I know a guy who can make a nice map where these things can be communicated.

Yeah, you're on the hit list. But we'll need to put up a sign board of some sort that allows us to pin the map on the thing.
