I mean go big or go home :

Should this just be done w/VR glasses.

And why isn't there an app in the play store for the Google/android TV ?
There's a peloton app.... (answer - not enough processing power, and too many variations)

Yes - I use workout where the resistance changes to match my power output for that interval. I never used sim mode...yet.

JRA watopia does require shifting - def not when doing a workout - just set the chain line nice and straight!

Having worn a bunch, I’d hate that. Way too hot and clumsy to wear when doing an actual workout. Maybe if you’re JRA virtual bike land it would be ok, but they would need a new form factor that’s light and has built in fans/ventilation.
was going to say the same. no way I could wear any VR goggles or my eyes would probably be swimming in sweat anyway.

I wonder if they still have mosquitoes at 40 deg ....

And I bet pythons are easier to catch when it's that cold.

So, to recap my adventure to get Rouvy optimized for the big screen, I bought an Apple TV box (64GB) and installed Rouvy as an app on the box. It runs perfectly and fills the entire 50" screen with no letterboxing or stretching. Success! Video is smooth, and it's pretty impressive how they integrate the animated riders into the video.

I'm kinda jealous of some of yall setup . Not sure if staring at a peloton screen for 6 hours a week will translate to being stronger irl but one things for sure my mental strength will be through the roof 💪 😅

The people who ride old fluid trainers while staring at their walls are probably the best racers.

as someone who has used indoor training for many years (10+) and way before anything like Zwift was around, I can tell you that as long as you push yourself training indoors beyond just easy sit and spin, you can definitely improve your fitness.

I started out many years ago with a basic fluid trainer and watching Youtube videos that told me to go faster or slower, with zero understanding of what HIIT intervals even were. did this for 3 months a few days a week and lost ~25 lbs.

As much as all this new tech stuff and simulators like Zwift, Rouvy, Mywhoosh or your Peleton help promote how great they will make you, its still back to the old cliche "you get out of it what you put into it" IMHO.

I would agree. Some years ago, I made some decent fitness gains just with regular stints on a fluid trainer following a Spinervals DVD. I need to get off my ass and set that up again.

I rode the old-school drainer and rollers back in the day when I was actually racing and following a training plan - it was rough although I was glad to have something when I jacked up my hand #bumthumb. I also started running then. That was 2017.

I finally broke down and got a Kickr for my birthday in the fall, and I'm glad I have something to ride in the mornings and supplement my CrossFit. Will I be a beast this coming season? Not likely, but it's better than riding the couch (or having IT band issues like last winter with the running I was doing).
