best steak in NJ

The stony hill inn in Hackensack has an unbelievable chateaubriand. Roots in Motown is good, jk steakhouse in Motown is real good also and its a bring your own. Ruth's Chris is always consistent. All of these place are pricey, jk's is the cheapest and the quality is fine. I've never been to a good steakhouse that wasn't overpriced, it goes with the territory.

Believe it or not, there is a dive bar in Garfield called the sportsman tavern on outwater lane, it has the best steak sandwich ever and it's only $8 or $9.

It's hard to find good cheap steaks even in the supermarket.
A really nice New York Strip (one of my favorites) is damn expensive.

I gotta try that. I don't have costco, but I have BJ's near me.
People keep saying that their meat is good, but I've always been apprehensive about trying it from those kinds of places.
Maybe I'll give it a try now.

I am always on the lookout for the perfect king cut of prime rib, who has inside scoop for northern NJ. Believe it or not I found a decent one at a golf course restaurant.

Check out the grasshopper in morristown, the have an awesome prime rib!

Wegmans supermarket has GREAT NY strip, much better than Omaha steaks. If you buy the family pack price per LB drops. When on sale I stock up.

Holy hell! thanks for all the info... been busy as hell today... lots of good recommendations and I agree with Arthurs (multiple locations) being a good steak and good prices but definitely not the best... I think it's one of those never ending quests... I'll have to get up north to Morton and Cliffs for sure though...

Walter of all the places recommended I've never heard of this one but I trust you so if I can get out that way I'll check it out...

Char I used to pass all the time and have always wanted to go in just because it's local...

Best cost effective steak would be to cook your own but I'm looking for the best place to go... besides I'm not Bobby Flay...

Jeremy it's almost football season so I know you'll be grillin some steaks... I'm with Pearl - call us over 😀

Go to char if for nothing else than the tall blonde Russian waitresses

I have a friend who was in the restaurant business. He likes Arthur's. Best bang for the buck. My personal fave is in Brooklyn. 4th ave. Hunter's Steak House. Been there half a dozen times. Good food at reasonable prices.

I LOVE the Prime Rib at Happy Apple Inn (Imlaystown NJ, near Clayton park). Thats our "go to" anniversary dinner place.

I normally chomp down the 30oz king cut.... haven't had the balls to order the 40oz presidents cut 😱

Not my favorite, but Smith & Wollensky is another famous one. There is a location in NYC. There is also The Palm in NYC, but not favorite either. River Palm has 3 locations in NJ, not my favorite.

Seriously, I agree with some of you guys. Cooking it yourself on the grill is the best. I'm not sure if I'm into that whole aged beef business.
