In case Otto's isn't enough for you during the week, there's Fifth Street in Emmaus on Thursdays. It's a haul, but it's worth it. Racing starts at 6:30-ish. Headlights are a must. Tubulars at your own risk. Two heats. 4 laps, then reverse course for 3. Beer occasionally provided by Funk Brewery, who do not suck. Entry fee: $10/week for two races. Number fee of $5 charged once each season w/USAC license. Not sure about day ofs. (Used to be cheaper, but the USAC insurance went up...)

Address (Emmaus Recycling Center off Klines Lane.)
The series will go on Thursdays through December. Halloween week, it's on Wednesday, as Emmaus does the trick or treating as a town on Thursday.
After party at Volpes in town every week. They sometimes have Maine Brewing Company beers.
This will also be the course for Solstice CX, so consider it the world's longest pre-ride.
Here's a pretty good video from Mark Bowman:

Finding a venue is akin to trying to pop a zit on a live polar bear's ass in this state. You need boatloads of both luck & skill to pull it off.

Weren't the first few years of 5th street on Stirckland's property?

Not to mention Emmaus's cycling roots run deep. Track, road, Mtb and literally some of the best trails (dirt jumps) in the country all a relatively small area.

You think we have enough locals to pull one of these off locally?
Fifth street is a weird beast. It used to happen in Bill Strickland's backyard and was mostly an excuse to drink beer. Then it got too big and moved to the Recycling Center, where it has gradually shifted from a goof (the first year I went the ground between the barriers was on fire) to a pretty fun coupla race heats. The only thing we've got around here that might morph naturally into something like this would be Otto's, which, just as 5th St. is Andrew Bernstein's baby, is Dan Larino's 3rd kid. BUT it couldn't happen at Otto's. Not like 5th St, anyhoo. The course is burned in in Emmaus, the tape is up for three months, there's a registration trailer, beer (Sole Artisan Ale last night), lights and a firepit. We'd be arrested if we tried any of that at Otto's.
That said, go to Otto's. THEN go to Fifth Street. They're both awesome. And if you've got a weird Uncle Harold who wouldn't mind hosting a race-series in his backyard...

BTW, if anyone needs a ride, I leave from Hillsborough at 4:30-ish in my stylish mini-van. (Sometimes I stay for the Volpe's hang, sometimes I bail after the heats.)

I think Snow Bowl in Mahlon could be a location for something like this in theory. The only group that uses that area is the RC race car group. The other variable is that you really need someone who is able to commit the time to make it work.
