Biking New Years resolutions

After the soggy year we just had, putting in more TM hours. Joining more group rides (I've had to work most of them unfortunately). Traveling to ride more places outside of the immediate region.

The biggest one for me is riding for experiences (see group rides above) and less for the sake of just riding. I've gotten in the habit of riding the same trails in the usual parks and after a while it becomes monotonous (although still fun), but switching up the ride direction can sometimes change up the whole experience of the ride. I even took the gravel bike in the fire roads in Ringwood, which to me can be a boring slog on a mountain bike, but a drop bar on skinnier tires changed the whole park for me and made it fun to hit those roads when the trails were too wet to ride. On those too wet to ride days I hope to have put together various routes based on NYNJTC maps and other map sources for some fun alternative rides on double track / fire roads.

I have a few that are simple and relatively easy to achieve.

1. Getting back to one gear riding.
2. Doing some overnight bikepacking trips.
3. Riding new parks outside of NJ.
4. Get a 50+ mile 4 parker in.
5, Helping more with either solo or organized TMs

Looking forward to making these a reality.

maybe i should throw this out there since it came to me last night, id like to get back down to the 155-160lb range . . . (not directly bike related, but will definitely make a difference in my riding)

Race DH and Enduro more since this will be my last year in my 40's. Granted, for DH I'm already classed with the 50+1/2/3 age group who will decimate me. But I'm building a new Hightower LT and V10, so I fair number of event attendance will be required to meet team requirements.

Get a century in - annoyed with myself that my longest road ride in 2018 was only 54 miles. 😡

My resolution is not to worry about goals or statistics,
Just to ride when I want and stop and enjoy the scenery when I want
and not to care how many miles I do or how fast I do 'em. Have Fun.

Yeah, but he has people calling him “the big hunk”. I mean, let’s get honest, he looks like he can still be playing, at least that guys wife thinks so. Good enough for me?

These days looks like this Nugenix crap is on every commercial break on TV, same as the NJ diet is on the radio!

BTW I think he's called 'the big hurt', not 'the big hunk'...just sayin'

The past two years I've been climbing more and riding less. I'm hoping to get some more riding in this year, but I'm not really willing to sacrifice climbing, so we'll see how it goes. I want to get back into some more exploring and riding places nobody else wants to.
