6 Mile Run Conditions

Early is your friend here. It's supposed to be partly sunny tomorrow & the sun will make a mess of things early in the day this time of the year. I was there once and temps were in the mid 20's & I had to turn around as it was a mess at 10am. 8am or earlier would probably work out better for you.

When talking specific times just a reminder DST starts tonight. Less sleep, less sun in the am but one more hour of frozen trail...

Current conditions = Mudfest. was probably good before 10am. Got 20 feet in, turned around and left. just not cold enough to maintain freeze once the sun comes out.

With the snow, it might be good fatbike/plus conditions for a bit, but it's likely to be a short window. I wish I'd brought a bike with me to work today. 🙁

Whats the dealio with trails around here? Temps will be below freezing tomorrow, anyone check out 6mr or sourlands after this snow?

anyone pack down the trails? If the weather stays below freezing I will go Saturday with spikes early morning.

i was just there....started at canal road....tried the red trail and it was nearly impassable....backtracked and rode the canal a little bit tweaking tire pressure....back to the canal road lot....ran into another intrepid soul who had just gotten back off the blue trail....so i followed suit, made it about 1.5 miles in before turning around (couldn't even get up to the BIYF 1hr minimum)...it was hard ass work! everything was pretty frozen, but if it wasn't packed down enough or frozen solid enough to float, when you punched through you were toast...unfortunately that happened much!

Ouch... breakable crust on snow is brutal. Didn't think about that. I guess it needs to be "groomed" first by a few fat-bike riders willing to take one for the team. Might make it rideable for a short time until it turns into ice single-track.
