6 Mile Run Conditions

there are grape vines, and branches hanging, or sticking out all over.
Blue between the first boardwalk (head high trunk) through blackwells water crossing has a bunch.

guess we should break it into sections.
I’ve debated the trunk. Would prefer to work with a team on it.

I considered going yesterday morning but both causeways were closed. I took it as a sign - and opted to go elsewhere.

It was decent while it lasted. By 10, when I left, the sun was just starting to work its magic on the frozen trail surfaces despite the 20 degree temps. Ruts in every trail. Riders and hikers must have been stomping through peanut butter over the last few days. Was really glad I left the HT at home. The ruts and footprints made for a really rough ride. Did everything and only encountered two bits of standing water. No mud. All the moisture was locked up by the cold.

TLDR:

Dawn at the Canal lot.

Typical trail surface was actually like this.

WTF? Looks like someone was trying to make a sketchy foot bridge or something at the concrete bridge. Hikers? Tore it down since it was poking into the path of travel.

Did not see a single other rider over the nearly 3 hour course of my ride. It's probably pretty bad by now. Hopefully people know to stay away when it softens up.

when the water goes up, the path goes underwater. Easy on a bike, no so on foot. I suspect that was an attempt at a solution?

I wish they didn't clear the dam we had built in that section to keep the water from flowing down to the end.
it worked well as long as the tubes were clear.
Might have to drop something heavy in there instead.

The condition of this place today was embarrassing

*NOT ME* - *NOT MY BIKES*

I saw this on Strava today. These could be the memes for the "Hows Six Mile?" question.😡😡😡

"but, but, but.. its public land and its not officially closed" 🙄

This is why we can't have nice things.

You could always turn around if it sucks. Prolly sucks. I have been staying away based on conditions not too far away in the RUEP.

What’s the mud situation like lately? I’d like to get a ride in this week. I’d almost prefer a reliable freeze in the morning so I’d know it’s rideable.

The RU trails are nearby and usually a lil better than 6MR; they are still holding a lot of water. I’d stay away if above freezing or after 9am.

What are the RU trails? And thank you for the report. I hate ruining the trails and that red clay makes a mess of the bike.
