Let’s bring solutions, not problems 😉I have a silky, couldn't find it. Maybe I left it in FL. Some of the trees could be taken out with a handsaw but it would be difficult

my silky sugowazaThese were a game changer for me. I have the 8" curved blade one. Fits in my jersey pocket and I used a codura sheath from a different saw. Many a blow down has been slain this winter.

i'm using a handsaw - my new toy is a corona 18" razortooth - takes about a minute to get through the bigger trees. i won't use a power saw solo. i've seen the results of kickback. that's the kind of first aid that can't be cared for solo.
Yes, the stuff at Home Depot Fiskars stuff is junk compared to these. You’ll break a blade before it goes dull. They are designed to cut on the pull stroke, which takes some getting used to. I snapped on over the winter.Do these stay sharp? The ones I get from Home Depot last a couple sessions and then i may as well be using a butter knife.

My 12 yr old Fiskers still cuts like new. That thing could cut you open in a heartbeat. Was not a home depot purchase. Maybe they changed.I have a Harbor Freight folding saw that works great. It was like $10.

So I picked up a Silky saw because of this thread, and WOW! I had an opportunity to use it briefly yesterday, and it was pretty ridiculous how much better it is than my old saws.
I used to think this too, but you don't know what you are missing. Less time cutting = more time riding.
I've never wanted a saw so bad.So I picked up a Silky saw because of this thread, and WOW! I had an opportunity to use it briefly yesterday, and it was pretty ridiculous how much better it is than my old saws.

Yes, I think there has been a change or better quality from non-HD. The one I bought at HD last year was basically useless after one use.My 12 yr old Fiskers still cuts like new. That thing could cut you open in a heartbeat. Was not a home depot purchase. Maybe they changed.
Silky saws are the real deal.
Nice work out there Dave. I’ve got two or three more days of cutting before I can start movingly dirt. At that point I’ll invite others.
