any baseball fans?

it is the absolute difference, not the relative difference.
replaced the word up with down and it generates the same report.
unfortunate.

so I asked....

This might not be a great stat.

scoring goes up as the game goes on. (obvious) - so
kinda self feeding on the winning side - if you win 12-2 late in the game, that is a bunch of hitting after leading by two.
ie scoring 6 in the 7th inning against the third string reliever. there are only 6 more outs against lots of hits.

Yeah I played around with it a bit, it wasn't able to give me what I wanted in the end. Eh, we can only try.

I feel like the Yankees are awesome after they have a 3 or 4 run lead. But before that, when it maters, they struggle.

Maybe more psychological?

Hypothesis: opposing pitchers get up too play the Yankees. They are experienced and have a plan. Fatigue sets in around the 5th along with the adrenaline crash. Starter is out, reliever comes in. Yankees feast!

When you look at failure rate in batting 90% of MLB hitters sit between the 2for10 and the 3 for 10. Anyone 3 for 10 and above becomes Bogg like legends. The art of next up and moving the line has become the dinosaur because of highlight reels and pay days for the above average guy (fence swinger). Soto imo not worthy of almost a billion. Much rather see it spread across a team then player but that is sports today.

Truly batshit crazy spending. Would much rather have 9 guys that can just pop off inconsistently but try their damndest every day. I'd much rather have Soto in our lineup than not, for obvious reasons. But goddamn at that price point? Bonkers.

Also these bullpens these days. Guy comes in, pitches 2000 mph for like 12 pitches, then loses everything and totally sucks. Gives up 8 runs in 2 minutes.

Damn. When did we lose our tag as the Evil Empire?

Anyway, yeah Bellinger has been swinging the bat well the last few weeks.

I thought Alonso was a good first baseman. What the he’ll was that throw? Lucas Duda anyone?
