If you are new to Mtbing you'll quickly find out what peoples definitions of beginner/intermediate/advanced are. I say intermediate in terms of what is available in NJ. On my first year riding there were intermediate trails that looked completely not bikeable to me when i first saw them.
On my first year of riding in 2005 i remember being all cocky from mastering the advanced labeled trails of Stillwell out in Long Island only to be slapped by reality when i visited Sprain Ridge park where their beginner trail was twice as hard as Stillwells advanced.
If you are familiar with skiing think of a double black diamond at Hunter compared to double black diamond at Jackson Hole. At Hunter where it can possibly be a little scary to someone during their first year of skiing, a double black diamond will kill that same person at Jackson Hole.
