Biggest loser

I've been hiding in plain sight. Reluctantly got on the scale today and it read 213. That puts me back to where I was in the beginning of Spring and 6 lbs above my lowest weight this year, which was in July.

On a positive note, I'm still 9 lbs below my 2021 weight and workouts have been consistent. My back is feeling good and I started deadlifting again. The eating and drinking is what's doing me in right now. It's not really that big a concern for me. I'm in IDGAF mode. Come January 4th, when I hit 50, I'll be in "Time to get in the best shape of my life mode."
50 and fabulous. It's definitely possible. This 54 y/o is currently, without question, in the best shape of my life.

weekly accountability post and check in. This week I did more lifting heavy sh*t and ran a 10k Thursday. Yesterday my lunch and dinner had more salt than I normally consume...so when I woke up this morning, my fingers were a bit swollen - so I am taking this morning's weigh in with a grain of salt (pun intended). Up 1.5 pounds this week. Going to trust the process and not let it derail me. Onto this week!

Bad news - up 10lbs from my lowest 2022
Good news - still 10lbs below 2021

For the past 8-weeks I’ve focused on stretching, core and daily exercise. Now that things are slowing up work-wise I’ll crank-up the exercise dial.

Aside from improving my overall flexibility, I’ve really focused on my hips. I am a legendary inflexible person, but I am amazed how far I’ve progressed with 8-weeks of perseverance.

E2M program Round 6, Week 6, Day 6

Diet
Checking in today. Heading to Cape May this afternoon and will be having the celebration meal. Did well on plan all week. Snacking less. Did enjoy a few Tonewood stouts and a Blanton's chaser last night. Meal prep plan mentioned last week worked awesome. Going to keep it going this week, but prep a little less to avoid freezing unused portions.

Exercise
Circuits and extra credit weight workouts M/W/F in the new pain cave area. Picked up an adjustable weight bench for the workout area from FB marketplace last night. Running with walking intervals T/Th with some abs and stretching. Purchased a Theragun last weekend at the local running store. Theragun had this model for $200 off and the store price matched. Trying to spend a little more time doing rest and recovery things. Planning to ride Sunday morning before the rain. After the holidays, the riding to running ratio will switch more to riding.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
12/10/22 current weight =177.2
Diff: weekly down 1.2, total lost = 58.2
Moving in the right direction. Will be another week of sticking to the plan, then things may go sideways as we will be traveling to FL for Christmas.

Wife is holding steady with just eating on plan and not too much activity.
E2M program Round 6, Week 7, Day 7

Diet
Did ok with meals during the week. Wed evening went to dinner at a local Italian restaurant with my parents. Stayed on plan mostly, but bread and olive oil is so good. Friday evening had some pizza and beers with a few of the neighbors at our house. More leftover pizza Saturday afternoon and beers at Tonewood. Sticking to it and will be travelling to FL starting on Thurs. We're packing meals for the drive to stay on plan and limit stops.

Exercise
Circuits and extra credit weights M/W/F. The EC leg workout on Friday had me sore Saturday. Increased my running distance on T/Th with a long 20min interval, followed by 5X of 1min walk/2min run. Rode this morning on the SS around the 'hood. Another week of this plan, then in FL going to notch it back a little and stay active with walking, running, kayaking and maybe some gym time.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
12/18/22 current weight =181.2
Diff: weekly up 4, total lost = 54.2
Not surprised with the increase. Guessing it's all from the pizza and beer the last 2 day. I know better, but it's soooo good.

E2M program Round 6, Week 8, Day 3

Checking in today. Travelling to FL for the holidays and nothing structured is planned activity wise. Going to be cold there too.
Diet
Meals have been on point. Will continue to eat as close to plan as possible. Packing plan food for the trip. We are also taking some DiNics roast pork with us to have with the family.

Exercise
Got a few days in. Circuits and extra credit Monday and ran yesterday. Packing this morning before work. Will be staying active in the retirement community gym and plan to do some walking in the nature preserve. Bringing my running shoes too.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
12/21/22 current weight =179.6
Diff: weekly down 1.6, total lost = 56.2
Will weigh in and be kicking it back into gear upon our return. Hopefully the number on the scale stays in the range. We find we always lose or maintain our weight on travelling trips. But this will be different as we're not camping and riding. The guests we're visiting aren't active, so we'll have to make time and not getting sucked into inactivity.

Jan 1 will conclude my 1yr of following the E2M Fitness Program. I'll update progress pictures when I return showing how far I've come. I don't plan to go back to the old way. If you're interested in a lifestyle change that will result in rapid weight loss and fitness, this is it. Sign-ups open Thurs, 12/29 and the next round begins on 1/2/23

Say strong over the next week. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

I need to check in as well. I said I didn’t want to go over 175, but the last two weeks have been crazy. I haven’t been paying attention to calories and the riding is getting harder to fit in so I expected the worst. I hit the scale expecting to see possibly 183 ish and was relieved to see 178. I can manage from there and get it back a little lower to start the new year. Knowing I was 206 Jan 3rd last year is still kinda crazy. It would be nice to enter 2023 at 176. I’ll take a 30 lb head start from last year!

I'm in my last week of Round 1 of E2M (8 week total). I'll do my weigh in Saturday morning. Having food allergies has made it easier to not eat cookies/crap.

There will be a week off for the next round of E2M before starting up again. I'll be home for that week and staying on track pretty much. Then I'll be starting round 2...not so much to lose weight but to solidify the new habits I'm developing.

Last day of the 8 week program for me - down almost 4 lbs this week for a total of 13.2 lbs!

This week I made it to CrossFit/lifted 3 days, two (bad) days on the bike (sore legs), and a day of yoga/stretching.

I know this week will be a challenge - in the fact that I have 3 days of family gatherings but I'll make smarter choices.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My wife got me a set of adjustable dumbbells for Christmas. So now I need to figure out some good exercises and find a bench next. Any good recommendations for an adjustable bench? Anything good used out there?
I picked up a Hoist
adjustable, 5 position bench like this off FB marketplace for $75.
I'm sure you could find something on there local to you.

I just upgraded mine to a Rep ab3000 2.0 and this thing is awesome. So much better than the cheaper marcy one I was using.

Titan and Rep are the home gym staples....bench is something you'll use often so I personally wouldn't cheap out on one. The difference between a wobbly, cheap feeling bench and a good well made bench is pretty stark. This is what I got and it feels quite premium:

For me this week was all about survivial. After having my vasectomy surgery on Monday, I had to lay low and rest a bit for a few days and then gradually get myself back to being active. I did it mostly in the form of walking/hiking. I went from a casual limp around my block, to a little bit of a hike, then to hiking with the family and getting back in the saddle on the trainer the past 2 days. I've been easing into it to monitor pain and swelling and all is good so far. Today is day 7 post surgery and I'm going to give it a shot getting back outside to ride.

This is excellent intel. I'm 13 days post-op from an operation that was a bit more than just a vas and I'm considering a return to riding road Friday and MTB next week. My doctor didn't give me any hard timelines just listen to my body and it feels pretty excellent already.

Drink and eat up Shriners! I feel a biggest loser contest coming up starting Jan 1.

More to come.

PS fairly sure I'm the leader out of the gate

I know it’s a few days late but how about a shout out to @Patrick for starting this thread Dec 2021.

tracking the life changing progress some folks have made on here is pretty impressive. Having others keep you accountable is pretty key regardless if you lost 1lb or 100lbs or just did something to make progress to being more healthy.

Here’s to 2023 to keep this going. Or do we need a new thread ?
