i need a book to read on a plane.... thinking thriller along the lines of the girl with the dragon tattoo series, the girl with all the gifts, girl on a train, gone girl, etc...

"girl" does not need to be in the title. 😉

must be available on kindle tho.
 
Reamde is a technothriller novel by Neal Stephenson, published in 2011. The story, set in the present day, centers on the plight of a hostage and the ensuing efforts of family and new acquaintances, many of them associated with a fictional MMORPG, to rescue her as her various captors drag her about the globe. Topics covered range from online activities including gold farming and social networking to the criminal methods of the Russian mafia and Islamic terrorists.


Fast moving page turner. Different than his other stuff - this was a fun read.
 
The Shapeshifters by Stefan Spjut. Kind of a different take on a typical thriller. It incorporates elements of Nordic mythology. I really enjoyed it. Translated from original Swedish.

The Stranger by Harlen Koben - I read this one in one trip (from Washington with a one hour stopover in Denver.) Fast paced read, kind of a summer/beach-read thriller.

If you want to consider something a little different, another book I read in one trip last year was non-fiction: Over the Edge of the World by Laurence Bergreen. It's the story of Magellan's circumnavigation of the world. Fascinating read that makes you realize just how big risky being a sailor in the age of exploration would have been.

I wound up downloading The Shapeshifters (sounds a little GOT's whitewalkers with a dash of "let the right one in") and added the others to my amazon wish list. I figure if I only get thru one book, I'll at least have the others ready to download another time for my train commute.

I thought this free book from Bikeisland.com CEO is interersting. It's nothing about bikes. Some light humor reading and it's free ebook ends tomorrow. I'm not sure if you need the actual promo email they emailed out to get it free
