Chimney Rock Conditions

Did you get out this morning? Any update?
Got out midday rather than the morning. For the most part things were fine. My garmin didn’t pick up the GPS until a mile or so in. But the areas circled had some puddle spots.

The red climb going counterclockwise from Newmans was a bit rough in spots. The access to white from chimney rock rd also had some patches.

It’s entirely rideable and everyone should get after it. Only trouble spots are probably on blue, but I tend to avoid that this time of year altogether.

Hit red/white/blue earlier. All good to go. Few wet spots in the usual places, mostly able to ride around.

For blue didn't go past the entry to the interior trail after the switchbacks so can't speak to that section out there.

Is it raining up there? I was just about to leave and it's raining in Metuchen. Hoping it's just a very local shower.

A guy in the parking lot told me yesterday that there are some new trails on the Cromwell camp property. Anyone hit them yet?

They’re not officially open yet. I have not ridden them but was told not to bother because they’re not remotely ready.

Fine conditions today (re: RED/WHITE/BLUE). Not counting creek crossings the only standing water was on the usual spot on red (first flat spot climbing up Newman's Lane side from parking lot) and then a couple of spots on lower interior red. Everything else riding very nice.

Thunderstorms were predicted for yesterday but nothing fell here that I'm aware of.

Well I rode them and I wasn't the only person there are tons of tire tracks the new trails are quite fun. They seemed plenty rideable but I'll stay off them till they officially open.
I worked at that camp for a bit. It's got tons and tons of potential. Really excited to see everything expand up there.

I grew up in Bridgewater. My family sold portions of the land that the trails are now on around Chimney Rock to the township slowly over the years (we owned a cabin off Miller Lane next to Herbie's for decades!). It's really neat to be able to experience the area as an adult and see how much better the access has gotten over the years!
