Chimney Rock Conditions

some one found the bridge, and was nice enough to pace off where it floated away about 250yds down stream and left a sign. It got hung up on what may be a muskrat dwelling. Checked the weight to see what it would take to move but probably close to 200 lbs, so wasn't looking for a hernia. Might head back there this weekend and try to float it back up stream with my fishing waders on.

Great news Walt. My feet have gotten wet almost every time thru there. It was on list list to go look for it but was waiting for the water to get a little warmer. We need to get it back there. Hopefully the floating it up stream idea will work. If not, we'll need to get a group of 4 or 5 to carry it back.

Did some clean up on the ball field trails today. Had some greatly appreciated company as Rich G joined me. Trimmed back a lot of overgrowth, cleared debris, cut out a big leaner and closed off a few cut thru's. Should be good for a while.

Trails looked damp from the rain but should be good to go for the weekend.

Gave it my best college try with my 11 yr old. But was only able to get about 2/3rds of the way. Despite having chest waders I still got soaked.

I sank in an eyehook and tied it to a tree to prevent further drift down stream. Going to need help, its heavier than expected

250ish, thought I could get it up to the path, but me just a little guy ... I'll be around in the afternoon if you can find some helpers or a quad

Decided to hike instead of riding today. Feel free to adjust as you see fit. Thanks to Wayne and a passerby John.

Great job.

Ran into Ryan and Wayne just east of the two small bridges in the middle of White and they had some serious gear that they had used to move the bridge that @qclabrat had rescued. We moved a beefy 25 foot long log that had fallen diagonally across the trail. People moved quite a bit of debris off the trails yesterday and someone built a much needed logover on the eastern half of downhill red.

Orange was a bit wet. Missed Yellow, skipped lower Blue and walked around the Arkansas pig wallow on western Red (does it really need another set of deep ruts?). Overall a three rating with the usual bad spots.

As you mentioned it was surprisingly heavy! We used a makeshift pulley system to get it up to the gravel path and from there we were able to slowly drag it up to the crossing and mostly in to place before John left. It's sturdy and useable but if a group of bikers want to stop it could be fit in to place a bit better. 2 people per side recommended.

First off - huge thanks going out to all that found the bridge and muscled it back into place! Nothing worse than keeping dry feet the whole ride and then splashing down just before reaching the car, so kudos.
Conditions were pretty good today, tho did not attempt any of lower Blue but expect it to be real muddy. A few trees down on Yellow across Millers - two right near beginning of trail and a double tree fall on High Tec/ Vosseler just before the rock pile. Saw some nice tree work on that trail section that was done between last Friday to today, but the high winds over the weekend won.
When is the next TM scheduled? I'd like to help out, maybe scope out a re-route of some of the middle Red that have been staying wet longer than usual.

Thanks to everyone involved in getting the bridge back in its place. We need to tie this thing off on something so we don't have to go far after the next big storm.

The trees have been reported & hopefully will be removed this weekend.

1st TM session of the year is Saturday April 30th.

Reroutes on Red have been discussed & possibly will happen on the 30th. Looking like High Tech will be sending some help so I want to take full advantage, so I need to plan accordingly.
