Chimney Rock Conditions

Rode red, white and blue today. I think it might be to wet. Not just in the obvious spots. What do others that rode today think?

I hiked blue this morning, it was a tad sloppy. We then rode the park at noon and did ballfield, black, yellow, orange, red, and white. For the most part it was fine, but obviously, "Trending moist," I would say.

I say this every year and I'll say it again now. It is the time of year where I would ask non-locals to not make the trip here to ride. It's not bad, per se. But it's not going to be getting better until it freezes up a bit. Normal/local traffic isn't going to make a mess of it. But it would probably be better to keep the traffic down.

It's the time of year where 1 day could be fine and the next oddly messy. It came on pretty fast, as it usually takes a bit to get to this point. Looking at the weather this week it should probably trend better until next Friday, when it looks like rain may reset things.

Rode red, white and blue this afternoon. Was definitely a mixed bag as mentioned already.

Upper blue was surprisingly decent. But other parts of blue looked like this. Wound up backtracking to avoid the worse of the slop.

Red along the reservoir was OK. Riding it ccw, I ran into this going up the perimeter trail. It's that segment that pretty much never dries out again until later in Spring. Dunno about upper red because I didn't feel like slogging through this.

Tree is still down on red too.

Log over on the other side is sketchy af. Hard pass from me.

I'll check out orange and yellow tomorrow afternoon.

Aw, come on. That last feature was built by consummate professionals. High quality construction.

Where is that last one.
They cut my funding in half so I don't "work" on weekends. 🤭

Hit yellow, orange, red, white and bit of black this afternoon.

Parts of the trail in the shade still frosty despite the above freezing temps. Signs of freeze thaw visible too. Yellow was in best shape of all of them. Little to no mud at all, even at the bottom of the descent from Gilbride where the rock armor usually traps moisture.

Sketchy log over on red a bit less likely to pitch you otb now. Thanks whoever cleaned this up a bit.

Benchcut trail on black looking pretty but barren without leaves.

We went and cut the downed tree on the red trail yesterday afternoon, and how it piled up looked fun. I want to come back with my bike and try. After I shifted some a bit, a rider went over, and it looks pretty decent. If someone thinks it’s not safe there, feel free to move it. Now I think it’s easier to relocate them.

Thanks! Hit it today and was a much easier ride over than pre-cut!

so are there go-around for the hikers?
are the piles off the center of the trail?

perception is everything.

Tree down on white. It is rideable on one side but nevertheless interupts one of the few flowy sections of the park.

It is about halfway to the wetlands bridge in white twisties.

Going to start my rides at dawn and be out by 8ish until next season. Stating the obvious but freeze thaw is in full effect.

This afternoon was definitely a bit sloppier than the previous mornings I’ve ridden, think I’m concurring with your thoughts there.

I mis timed the freeze thaw along with 1,000 other people today. White is 💀💀💀

I saw the tree but it's such an easy hop it doesn't affect the trail at all.
