This one dates to 2019 and could be the most recent trail map. It is noticeably missing the short loop behind the ball lot which you get to by crossing the wooden arch bridge but is otherwise fairly comprehensive and includes the Middlebrook trail and Camp Cromwell extension.

@stb222 After the great work you did for Six Mile Run getting Middlebush Rd signs and crosswalks painted, I noticed the same issue for Chimney Rock. There are a few crossings on Gilbride Rd, Chimney Rock Rd, and Newmans Ln. Can you work your magic with the County and Township on these? The one at the bottom Orange/Guiderail connecting to Red on Chimney Rock Rd is probably the most needed. the Newmans crossing is probably second. There's a considerable amount of traffic on Chimney Rock Rd and some blind spots. I think Chimney Rock Rd is the County and the others are Bridgewater Township. The town has crossings painted on Vossler and Brookside, so they should understand the request.

If I was being greedy, I'd ask for marked bike lanes on Gilbride and Chimney.

With the amount of foot and bike traffic, I'd think these are no-brainer, easy safety sells.

Not once has a car even slowed down for me at the Vosseller or Brookside crossings. Good luck with Chimney Rock Road.

I ride Six a lot, and have definitely noticed that people are more aware now and do actaully stop if they see me. Before, it was a dice roll.

There's plenty of rocks at Chimney, I was thinking about creating"falling debris" 😁

I’ll say that I’ve never had anyone stop or slow down for me ever at Six-Mile, it’s probably easier to walk across the Turnpike than cross South Middlebush 😂

Rush hour at SMB is Death Race. Some people have weekend mercy, doe.

It must be you. We have cars stop for us pretty frequently on Vosseller. Not so much on CR Road.
Maybe it's because I'm usually riding solo in the middle of the day, midweek and no-one is expecting there to be a rider. I usually get the "oops" look as they pass me standing at the edge of the road.

Good Idea Chris!

I'd put Newmans rather low - site lines are good there.

Site lines are horrible at the guardrail, probably the hardest to justify given low trail user traffic

I'd like to see something at CR road at Gilbride - cars are moving quickly, and there is no indication of a crossing.
Not even a "trail" sign that I remember.

Does anyone cross at the spot farther north on CR road?
Seems the Middlebrook Trail is a thing - so probably could get some traction on that one.

Vossler to Cromwell and Gilbride at the parking lot never seem "that" busy.
Can always start with them and then give em up while negotiating!

@Patrick Yeah, I've crossed at the north CR Rd trailhead a few times, but agree, low on the list. If we get the county paying attention, and they are willing to do something on CR Rd, I figure let's ask for all 3 crossings. That would keep drivers on higher alert.

So one good thing is that Washington Valley Park is a County park so you don't have the state and county aspect like 6 mile has. Also the same county contact we dealt with for 6 mile.

I am happy to support this but someone needs to do the leg work as going in the field here isn't really an option for me time wise. Couple points:
  • Chimney Rock Road is County Route 525, which has county jurisdiction. It has an average daily traffic of between 11,000 - 12,000 vehicles a day. This is 4-5,000 - less than the Middlebush crossing at 6 mile. This is the route I would focus on.
  • Newmans Lane and Gilbride Road are both municipal jurisdiction roads, I have no contacts with the twp.
After you identify which crossings are the focus, someone should take pictures in both directions at the crossing and from the trail crossing itself. I can do a write up if I have that info.

Since I asked, I'll take the lead on on gathering the information.

Here is a link to the crossing at gilbride on CR road.
Opening in the fence on the right -
This is as clear as it gets - much more overgrown now.

The entrance back into the park is 100m down Gilbride - we usually don't ride back up to the ballfield entrance.

If we need pics and map pins I am hoping to ride today and tomorrow so can grab this stuff while I putt around.

Just let me know what's needed from where.
