Diary of a Macman

power line

That last pic looks like the lenape waypoint

Power Line 40.7982 -74.2712

We have something like that in Bergen county. It was listed as a PSEG trail, but when I went to check it out, the sign said no trespasing 3 months jail. There was a wire chain and fresh seeds, so I decided not to bike there and headed back into the county park, where I ran again today.

btw: The lenape trails are not being handled properly. Why is it ny/nj trail conference publish maps for the other regions in our area but not the watchungs? They have been issuing funds for certain area's in NJ, watchungs could use a few bux. As notes in the 50 hikes book of NJ, areas like south mountain that are midst of busy areas. imho should be well maintained and not squandered🙁

Some Body Robbed the Denville Train...(this mornin' half passed 9)

Was thinking about leading a club road ride to Denville as I still have a gps from a ride some one else lead 2 years ago (he came today but bailed early)

http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=438693

this old road ride is out of pedal sports in oakland. today i attended a ride to denville out of franklin lakes. where i just had been yesterday trail running in hi mtn.

here's a pic of the topo of todays ride to denville from topfusion

lklkl.jpg

Waughaw road was the big climb of the day, and it stratified our dozen roadies into two groups as we later met in the denville bagel shop.

the ride back passed the tourne we had a smaller hill apshawa . some one went down on some dirt/gravel. but things didn't get ugly til towards the end of the ride, Colafax is a little hard to make a left with the bend in the road. so the group went to hamburg tpke. and we all suffered from road rage from several motorist.

other folks posted about avoiding hamburg tpke and i think it's good to avoid in general.

here's todays ride to denville (on garmin) and i hope to head back before 2 more years pass [ i had the delorme too, but it didn't seem to log, it looked like it did but in denville i elected to navigate back to the ride start [waypoint], and it didn't seem to be able to do both functions (navigate & record):popcorn:

the only thing that i did wrong, was stay in new york city a day too long...

It was such a nice day after mtbing this morning @ tourne, i decided to do some running on the lenape trail.

Park at brookdale, ran up around mills and back to brookdale

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/25275808

back at brookdale i overheard some gal running and telling her man 'run ten', well i only ran 6.5; luckily i made up the difference mtbing 5.25 miles this morning in morris county's tourne.

it was a dam good day to be outside

delorme pn-40 firmware update

i got out of work early today cause of the snow so I called delorme and got some replacement screws for my pn-40 and ordered the recharging kit and batteries.

they informed me that the firmware update (2.7) i installed last week on my pn-40 enables me to save gpx way point files on my sandisk card up. up to 1,000 waypoints per gpx file. before that we were limited to 1,000 max waypoints saved on the gps receiver itself

Code:
 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<gpx xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1" creator="GlobalMotion" version="1.1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/gpx.xsd">
<wpt lat="40.735047" lon="-74.164259"><ele>0</ele><name>Newark - Penn Station>/name></wpt>
<wpt lat="40.737681" lon="-74.170659"><ele>0</ele><name>Newark - Military Park</name></wpt>
 </gpx>

at this time I just need 3 waypoints
  1. brookdale
  2. branch brook
  3. south moutain

looking to hit all three regularly and do a few laps on the road bike around each joint
