Dickerson Mine Preserve Conditions

Did a ride today before we get the soaking that's coming to us. Slippery wet leaves, and Beach Trail still is a challenge to me. Grand fun.
Definitely the best trail there. It gets really hard to follow when the leaves are falling, though.

Got out this morning and trails were pretty icy for the most part, rideable but at a slow and cautious pace. The older tracks were slick and glaszed over, specially where the sun hits the trails. I was on a non-studded Farley, wishing I had studs the whole ride.

Also, big blow down on yellow , heading towards warehouses. Looks like some of it had been cleared, but 2 big trees still blocking trail

Gotta say; too many ruts! People must be riding here when trails are at most vulnerable, especially on yellow. Hope they show up for trail maintenance.
Yeah, there were notable marks by a single fat bike that trenched the trail 3-4 inches in places. If that's not a sign to turn around, I don't know what is.

Anybody been out here lately? It's been pretty warm and dry the past few days, hoping the trails would be in good shape for an evening ride.

I was there the day before yesterday. still a fair amount of snow and everything was mush where there wasn't snow. Creek trail is getting pretty rutted. How fast does Dickerson dry out?

Nice work to whoever sealed up all the shortcuts on Orange again. That must be the 20th time. Seems like the COVID riding hordes have died down substantially, so maybe this time will stick for a bit.

Trails are in great shape. The trail along the stream and the climb out to Canfield had the usual issues for this time of year.

Small tree down towards the top of Marty's. Easily hop-able but it's in that fast tree weave section so you wouldn't want to screw it up.

Otherwise conditions are fantastic.

There’s a 2nd tree down somewhere. I forget where. I’m useless but the park isn’t that big.

Also there are tarps strewn everywhere on the Marty’s trail. Not a great look IMO.

There's one down on the white trail in between Irish Spring Rd and that swampy section that I usually skip. I think it's the same tree that's been down for a while but it's now low enough that you can't sneak under it.

I'm apparently too oblivious to notice tarps but did pick up a few plastic bags.

Did a ride just now on my freshly upgraded bike, and it rocks! Conditions are perfect right now. There's a bit of activity at the township site, like they are clearing a new area.
Oh, and those tarps are the remains of some construction webbing that I think was used as erosion control as the trail was being built.
