DP - game on (BEAT MY TIME)

Chapter Lead: Deer Park
JORBA.ORG
Team MTBNJ Halter's
OK I came up with this on my ride today. Beat my time and earn 2sixpacks of choice or $25. Train ride and earn beer!

Rules:
1. need to own GPS and follow my tracks and prove you win with your data.
2. If you win you accept to pay if you get beat or face public humiliation. In to win pay when you loose.
3. overall time is determined as winning time.
4. you must follow tracks accurately or you are disqualified.
5. loser must pay within 1 week
6. Must be member of MTBNJ

Sound like fun...
My ride was on a SS at Deer Park if you beat my time on a geared cool you win but I still hold SS time record until someone beats it and you own geared record. What that means is I'll buy for your geared to get it going. But retain the SS record until it's beat. If you don't have a GPS I can make arrangements to lend you mine. This is a perfect way to get to Know DP as I covered every trail in the Park. Thinking is to put a end date for overall winning times and get Mayor McCheese to throw some MTBNJ swag for overall winner...

The Time To Beat 1hr 49mins 22sec.

Great idea. Thats a nice loop and it looks like you were moving. If this catches on I'm going to need to get a GPS. Who is going to be the first to throw down?

I failed to mention if you got a set loop in your home park, then bring it and follow the rules. I'd like to see every park with a "BEAT MY RIDE". Try to make a loop consist of most trails and at least 12 miles or more...

Very cool! Might need to get me a GPS...and this time not lose it on my 2nd ride with it. 🙁

My 2 cents: I think 'real time' is a better way to go than 'moving time'. In a race, the clock doesn't stop ticking when you stop rolling! :getsome:

We can add this to the trail directory as its own section. I like. I'll do that next week right after I land Lance to race with us...

True but to follow unknown course it takes time to figure out. Which would require stopping at intersections at times. Taking opinions for tweaking if necessary...

yeah but sandbaggers who know the course will use the intersections for rest stops.
i agree with woody, real time is the true test. for those who dont know the loop ride it and learn it than next week come back and kill it, this would be part of the challenge/fun for any trail across NJ.
i have to get a gps thingy myself...one of these years.

Woody and pooriggy make valid points and I am changing the rule to overall time...

lets do one at lewis morris tomorrow

better yet....let's al meet up at LM tomorrow and see who puts down the fastest time! Perhaps we can get a local bike shop involved and they'll give medals to the top 3. OK- that's just sarcasm. I like the idea. I've been dreaming of the day when there will be a race at hartshorne. Now we've got one. I'll need to flip thru my pages of rides and find the best loop with a fast time. Great idea. Do we take conditions into consideration? one thought though...SS or gears shouldn't matter.

for those of you considering a gps, stop thinking about it and order one. It is awesome. i've been riding with mine for a about 2 years and I absolutely love it. I just bought one for my wife and she loves it.

If we're splitting ss & gears, I demand that we have age categories too.

and weight categories lol

age doesn't matter as much as weight does me thinks =]

but in all seriousness, 1 for every park, overall time, except for parks that have road crossings like 6mr... you'll need to go out at 3am to set that record =P
