Yet another Deer Park loop - Ultra simple loop for beginners

Hi,

A week ago I used my Garmin for the first time and tried to follow 2 of the loops posted here (the one by Mattybfat and the one by Spylab) but I couldn't figure out how to get the unit to picture something readable/useful😡 Anyway, I gave up after a couple of starts and recorded my own little-ultra-simple loop, in case someone wants to do it (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/45462312).

In case you're Garmin-null, as I am 😱 here is the description:

Start of 1st parking lot, take fire road up and take yellow? trail to the right, after passing 2nd parking lot where it's the close gate. Follow that trail to until it connects w/ the fire road again right before the bridge at the lake (there is a sharp left turn at one point, I think is the only fork on this stretch).

After the bridge take the trail that goes up to the right, follow this one and cross two plank bridges, shortly after the second one take a right (red trail?) that will take you on a down hill to Rt XXX, "touch" the pavement 🙂 and come back up the same way (tough up hill).

At the top, turn right and continue on this main trail until you see a wide entrance to a trail on the right (if keep going straight you'll hit the fire road immediately). Follow this trail, make a 90 deg right turn after a rock garden (only way to go really), pass a few logs and make a really sharp left going up through another rock garden. Follow this trail until you hit a T.

At the T, take a right and from there is a down hill to the 1st parking lot.

BTW, no need to have a Garmin, just tell me the total time. I did 59' 35" and was riding a geared bike 26er.

I hope someone takes me on and keeps me coming back for more 🙂

I gave it wirl tonight. My god this loop is insanely hard to follow. It was going well until after the first loop. Once I got back to the 4 way intersection, I went stright rather than left. I made it about a mile or so before I realized my mistake. So it was too late to turn back. I get on going anyway and tried to finish it out. I came back and hit the section I missed and totalled 15.5mi so I thought I got it all in. Afterwards I realized I missed part of it. Oh well. I would need to hit this a few times anyway as I was head down most of the time. I made this map as a guide, imo this loop is impossible with just the garmin.

Ok so that was prolly best attempt. You missed which you later went gack for was when you come out of The birches straight down towards P follow the flacid penis right on white to red to reverse white by the dam over two bridges past orange and 1 climb left on blue stay blue which turns into fireroad to right on yellow to left on parking lot trail...Got it...

My problem was that I made two different looking arrows to try and seperate the 1st loop from the second. I missed the spot where I transitioned from one arrow to the next. I should have marked this point on the map. Rode right past it. But I started too late, the last 10 min I did in total darkness.

There is also a tree down near the lake. Its almost impossible to get over it as it took half the forrest of vines and briar down with it. Took me probably 10 min to hike around it.

I will inform the plumber can you describe what color trail or location exactly?

Matt, im totally drawing a blank. It had to be on the trail that wraps around the lake, although I dont remember the lake being in sight when I got to the tree. Sorry, im of little help. next time I hit the loop, i will make a note of where it is

Did you draw that on a condom?

Utah is correct. Huge tree down on red right before the intersection with blue. Have to hike through the briers to get around which isn't fun. Matty, get out there with your 44" stihl and get this TT back on track.

So I headed out today for another try. All was going swimmingly until somewhere along the way I dropped my map with my notes for the directions. I pressed on anyway and got it pretty close with 1 mistake. I went around the lake and made the left turn on blue when I should have kept going and made the next left. So I did that one loop backwards, but somehow I ended up with a 1/2mi extra. Man, thought I had it this time.

You gotta give a big thumbs up to Utah for persistence. It looks like he's trying to become the KOTT (King of TT).
