Dragons are F'ing Awesome

Ha yeah, I gave up on texting you about Rides. If both you and Norm show'd up, the stars would be aligned so perfectly that I might end up not flatting.

I told Ben it is my radar it is just so opposite of my normal ride time it is a pain to coordinate. Probably by the time I do it will be too cold for you to ride.

Yesterday

Went out after my EOD call again yesterday and did a loop out on Jacob's Ladder, back in the Bernardsville Hills. It's been a while since I've been out there and the loop is going to need a little refining, but it's a new twist on some old roads that I really have not ridden in a while. They're good roads, but I'm still figuring out which ones are best for night rides with the traffic and such.

Today

Did some work really early for a guy in London then enjoyed myself for a good solid 1.5 hours laying on the couch. It's really an amazing way to start the day, I have to say. After the dev call I did a bit more work then took a quick nap. It's a hard life, I know.

Work is wrapping up at 3:00 today, and I have to get J and head out to my folks to drop her off. Heading back to the condo tonight so I can head out for a road ride tomorrow morning, my birthday ride. Yes, I age another year tomorrow. Nothing crazy just a quick morning ride. Then back out to the folks for food, then back here to bring J home.

I think that leaves me on the trainer this afternoon, unfortunately. Time is tight, not much I can do about it.

Comments

Lou - I'm not sure what the order of chair breaking was. Yeah, Eric & the evil stare may have done it. So we have Rob, Iggy, Eric, and Megan for sure. I wonder how many other people broke the same chair? You'd think once would have been enough.

Lou is now 1 of my main texting peeps. Being single guys and all, gotta stay tight 😉

Robin - always happy to have you along for this ride. I'll try to keep it entertaining 🙂. And hell yeah, the gravy boat is comedic gold. But you know I may let Julia and my friend's 3 year old son play with it. Like maybe they can use it as a Frisbee or something.

But until then, it remains on my end table. Well, after it gets smashed into a pile of ceramic rubble I may keep it on the end table. Maybe in an urn?

Oh and thanks for the toaster!

Jake - oh hey, yeah it would have been nice to have you but you know I had no expectation you'd be there. Ditto Fred. I knew you guys wouldn't end up there. But I figured I'd extend the invite anyway. Next time.

stb - we can work out how we tease these guys about riding at the same time and then just go ride by ourselves, just the 2 of us.

Maybe Jake can come too.

Food & Toaster

Thanks to Mandi for making food for the weekend's party and Robin for the toaster! My egg & avocado sandwich is so much better on toast than plain bread!

Just a plain old road ride. You should jump into one of the group Thanksgiving rides though it sounds like you may be time constrained. 😉

you know it! oh and I love the friendship bracelets you made, they are awesome 🙄

that chair should have been some sort of experiment in human behavior... disassemble and reassemble sans any bonding whatsoever and see how many people fall victim... it was definitely entertaining 😀

I admit the gravy boat is awesome, but what really got me excited was Chris' and kaylas' bottle nose dolphin opener!! Now you need to have another party so we can bring wall art & plants. I will try to keep Iggy from getting too rowdy.
The verizon man was pretty funny also. Nice touch...

BTW---When you talk about breaking the chair, do you mean the dining room? The bottom piece? It broke & I fixed it.

Hey Norm! Hope all is well and happy belated Birthday. I've been a little slow in my reading lately so I just caught up with this thread. Good luck and hope to see you back to a somewhat fun routine soon. Peace

Where...?

Where oh where does the time go? I just don't know. I do want to try and update this every day, but somehow the days get away from me. When I WFH, which I'm still doing, I seem to let the day slip by and before I know it, it's late afternoon. And then people aren't as responsive to the posts. But then, I can't post in the morning so much because I end up working early morning, or doing other things that preclude me from writing, such as going out and having lunch with a friend, like I did today. So it goes.

Wait, still WFH?

Yeah, still have not been in the office yet. The Path is back and Allison told me it was free & clear. But I'm taking one more week to just enjoy the confines of my couch while I work. I know I need to get back into the routine of going into the city. I think my regular schedule will be M/W/F in the office and T/T at home. Wednesday night I'll have J and then drop her off at school just before 9:00. So going into the office then makes no sense.

Anyway, there's that.

Biking

I have been biking, and my streak continues, but right now it's just about turning the pedals and burning some calories. Unfortunately these days that more or less means the trainer. By the time I end up getting on the bike, it's easier to just burn an hour watching Scrubs. So it goes.

Yes, I love Scrubs. It's so me.

With J around this weekend I did something like 3 of 4 days on the trainer. I did get out Friday for about 2 hours, which was nice. It seems like forever ago but it was 60 degrees that day. It was nice.

No real plans going forward. I'll cobble together some time on the bike when I can. I'm not so much concerned with a massive base winter. I'll take what I can get and fill in the cracks with the trainer or rollers or just sleeping more. It doesn't really matter at this point. Since I haven't defined any goals for 2013 I'm not really thinking much in terms of a winter plan, other than just getting saddle time in.

Feedback

Joe - No need for a microwave. Turns out I already have 1 over the stove. A friend of mine pointed that out right after I moved in. Hey, how about that? That's good, since I don't have a ton of counter space.

Speaking of the counter, I need to get my espresso game on. The limiter here is that need to figure out the roasting situation. I guess I can try on the mini deck outside the living room. The concern there is that the roast may stall with the cold temps. I should try it though, since you never know until you try.

Patty - I plan to have another party after the new year and invite many of the same people, plus at least 1 more 🙂. Then you can bring me wall art and plants if you so desire. I have a tree in the corner now with the Iggy train set, so I do have 2 things alive (well, sort of) in the house at the moment. But I make no promises on keeping any plants you give me alive. I will try though.

That reminds me I need to water this tree. BRB...

Thanks for the reminder. And yes, the dining room chair. Maybe everyone but me broke it?

Birthday wishers - thanks, appreciate it. It was a really good birthday, actually.

Mitch - Thank you sir. When every door opens, is worth 2 in the bush. Or something like that, right? Anyway, always look on the bright side of it never being late to have a happy childhood. These just aren't coming out like they're supposed to. I'm sure you understand. You of all people.

Julia, a Tree, and a Train

This is great in theory, and trust me she LOVES it. But holy hell is this train annoying.

Too much trainer talk. Please replace with detailed explanations of your trainer work outs.

Do you miss the quiet morning roads and sunrises?

If working from home is an option, why bother going into the city at all?

I like Scrubs too. Until they stopped working in the hospital and started that medical school. That's when they jumped the shark.

Forget about an espresso machine. Just get a can of Sanka. Then you can put it in water or beer.

correction, the god-awful music the trail plays is annoying. seriously who comes up with the idea to put a lifeless voice to music on repeat. i guess it just goes to prove that u can either build a train or you can sing. doing both well just doesn't happen.
