who knew life was all about golf balls... I'm digging the philosphy...

Dump those golf balls out and start filling the jar with wine corks from the bottles you've drank. At least that's a real hobby of yours.

EDIT: Is it have drank or have drunk? Have drunken?

Well Then...

It's been 6 days since I updated this. That's a bit of a long time. So here goes nothing. What have I been doing?

More or less just riding the trainer. So it's hard for me to come on here and be like, "Ah yeah so I'm on the trainer." It's really boring, I know. I've just been spinning, barely breaking a sweat. But see, I've been feeling a little sluggish lately so yesterday I did step it up and went harder on it. I did bring the fan up.

Exciting.

But no, wait, it gets better. I really had no choice in the matter because J was with me this weekend. For those of you who don't have 6 year old kids, you can't leave them in front of the TV while you go ride bikes for 1-3 hours. So you leave them in front of the TV while you ride the trainer.

We watched a Barbie Princess movie. Do you have any idea how intolerable the trainer is when you actually push yourself and watch a Barbie movie? I would hope most of you have no experience here. Let me just assure you it's as difficult as it sounds.

I did take a few days off, so my streak of 30 or 40 straight days came to an end.

Weekend

Saturday we bummed around the house, then my parents came and watched J while I went open a token bank account at TD to get that ball rolling. This is life now, the details of moving forward. Nothing bad, just part of the process. After that we just hung out, grabbed some pizza for dinner, and watched some TV together, wrapping up the night with some Scrubs. That's kid-appropriate, right?

Sunday after the trainer we went down to hang out with Woody (Uncle Woody to J even though he's not really her uncle), then we washed my car, went to Home Goods for a picture frame to use in a little project I was doing, then hit the house for some tools, and finally got her frozen yogurt because she was really good all day. After that, we watched more TV and worked on the puzzle, until she decided she wanted to take a bath while I did laundry and cleaned up the kitchen.

Dropped her off at 6:00 and it was a little sad to have the munchkin gone. As much as 6 year olds can be royal pains in the ass, I do like having her around. She's actually a great kid, and a lot of fun. Then had dinner with a friend and relaxed at night.

Fairly good weekend all in all.

Joe - I ride any time between 4-6:00 pm. I really have no set schedule.

Carson - drinking less these days. The 2013 season is almost here and it will be high time to get in gear soon enough. So I'm not going to have *quite* as many wine corks. Though, admittedly, there will always be wine corks in my life, from now until Forever.

I had some of Fred's beer this weekend. My man makes some good beer.

Also roasted coffee for the first time in the new place. It came out pretty solid. Made some espresso with it this morning and it was awesome!

Bread

I baked some bread this week, then ate curry with it. Yeah, curry is "supposed to" go with rice. But you know what? I'm just crazy like that.

That's some good-looking bread.

Sean and I discussed the 2013 season quite a bit as we slogged along in the rain yesterday. I'm enjoying the planning, already.

Tuesday

Trying to keep up the posts these days. I know that some weeks are better than others, let's see if we can do 5 this week.

I was supposed to ride after work with Andy yesterday. But we kinda hemmed and hawed and, well, you know it was kinda wet and then the rain came in and that was the end of it. I know it was warm, but riding in post-work rush hour in the dark & wet just didn't seem like a lot of fun.

Next time.

Maybe I'll ride after work today. Is it cold out?

Strava

We were at Eric & Allison's for dinner the other night and Eric was lamenting the fact that he lost his KOM on a hike/run he did when he was in Japan. It gave me the idea that I should go upload all my Taiwan rides. So I did that Sunday and I now have 15 new KOMs.

Score!

I would like to do a trip like that again. Admittedly, Taiwan is likely never going to happen again, at least for a bike trip. I could see myself going back one day. But not to ride bikes for 6 weeks. On that note, I wonder if Can O' Beans has been smelted yet.

Anyway, here are some of the more notable rides and some of the KOMs. I defined 1 or 2, but most either auto-created or existed already:

ChrisG - I've made the braided loaf on & off for years. It was really good, just needed a hair more salt. If you show to my next party maybe I'll make some. The food should be more organized next time, since I'll have more than zero time to think about it and someone helping with the food prep.

Though admittedly everyone who came stepped up big time. We had way more food than needed.

For 2013 I think I want to upgrade to cat 3 on the road.

And the SSaP weekend is a Julia weekend, which could be bad.

Lance - Needs more dragon, don't you think?

Your gravy boat remains on my end table, next to Iggy's lamp.

Thought I was reading my blog for a second

Things

Utah says my blog is uninteresting. I think Utah stinks and his culinary abilities in the kitchen start and end with the canister of Parmesan cheese in his fridge. Did you know that Chrome complains if you don't spell Parmesan with a capital P.

I rode my bike inside on...wait, what day is today? Thursday. So I rode it inside on Tuesday. I did not ride it Wednesday, as that is my Julia day. I do plan on riding today. I swear I do. Inside, outside...I'll ride a bike somewhere.

Went out for lunch today. Sushi. It was nice.

Julia Day

My day more or less goes like this...

1. Go to the house to get her
2. She's watching TV
3. Go into the basement, pack car with stuff
4. Go home
5. Read some books
6. Maybe play a game
7. Put her in the tub, do stuff around house
8. Wash, dry, and then send her off to get dressed
9. Give her a snack
10. Rinse off the tub and the 23 pounds of soap she used
11. Hang out on the couch while she has snack
12. Watch TV with her
13. Go to bed, read her books
14. Lights out, sleep time

There are any number of things in between but that's more or less it. My morning:

1. Wake up at 6:00, debate getting up
2. Hear little footsteps
3. Say "come here squirt"
4. Cuddle up with J, she falls asleep
5. Get up eventually, make some tea & toast
6. Read book on couch
7. She wakes up again, finds me on couch, cuddles with me, and falls asleep again
8. Eventually give her breakfast, put on TV
9. Work for an hour while she watched
10. Get ready for school, then leave

Xmas

This holiday season is going to be hectic, as I'm sure it is for everyone. But for me, it will be more hectic. I guess I don't need to explain that so I won't. I have a bunch of days off so I'll be taking off for a bit after Xmas and getting away from here. It will be good times.

I did all my shopping for Julia in a few hours on Tuesday in the office. I was pretty productive that day, all in all. As you can guess, "life details" and overflowing at this stage and there's always so much to do. So I try not to procrastinate too too much.

We're celebrating with J and my parents on the 23rd this year, because I wasn't invited for Xmas morning. I'm not going to pick that fight, so I'll just leave it at that.

I got a Christmas card from FatMarc, which I thought was really nice. I'm not sending any this year, so if I normally do and you don't get one, sorry about that. The wife is sending out to people but I assume that my friends will fall off the list. That's cool, we'll hit y'all back next year.

Anyone have an open Xmas eve or Xmas morning they want to share?

2013

I'm surprised nobody called me out on the combination of my wanting to upgrade to cat 3 and the line Pearl highlighted.

The Board

It's pretty bad. We need suggestions on how to keep it alive. I guess I should be riding more? I'll get there.

I thought someone would have something to say about my uploading the old files from Taiwan.

Nothing?

I know we go through this every year - what does it take? A winter riding competition? Well a little birdy has told me...It WILL be back.

DRV

Did I mention that Luke has been coordinating some samples from DRV? So we may change our kit company to them. John has been pretty easy to work with so we'll see where it goes.

This is of no importance but I figure I'll share since there's not much else to talk about. I assume you all want to know what clothes I put on my butt when I ride.

Boxes

I need moving boxes. Like a bunch of them. If you have 5 or more boxes that you can spare, hook me up.

On that note, speaking of free stuff, I may need to make some pleas for more free stuff. I still need to raid Bill, Brad, and Dave's houses for stuff yet.

But boxes. I need boxes.

A Phone

I got my phone, an awesome gift from a friend. We still need to work out where it's going to go. For now, it shares picture space with the onions. Actually, since that pic the onions have found a home in the big white metal tub that Iggy gave me.

We got nothing going on for Xmas except the kids video games. New Just Dance4 is right up your alley.

Notes

Your new normal is seriously affecting the board. You should have considered such things before making major life changes. I wouldn't call it uninteresting, just interesting in a totally different way, where different means sucky. I cannot speak as I do not contribute much these days but the same old threads pop up over and over and I blame your slump for all of it.

Seriously, how many threads can be created about a certian component and 20 people say "x part is the best!" when there are like 10 people on the entire board who have tried more than 2 brands or models of x part. I guess it is too be expect after many days of wet weather followed by the return of the cold. On an actual serious note, italics is fascinating me today

On a for real note, I think you need to ride more outside and in the morning because somehow you ride less when you have more time to do two wheeled activity.

Sorry bro...if you want a sugary coating, I suggest skittles. 😀

I made popcorn for dinner last night with Parmesan cheese on it...with a side of microwaved edamame...so suck it!

Pearl stopped blogging and became the top meme poster, luke now posts in comic sans...sounds like we are right on track with winter no?

I would have suggested a real bakelite rotary phone that wasnt plugged in...this covered with cigarette smoke stains

800px-Rotaryphone1.jpg

bad ass phone. and utah's right. landing gear is ready for winter.

it's the rain. no trails = unexcited people. i'm going out for frozen goodies early early tomorrow am to try to charge me up again.

bird is the word.

I'm killing time in my professional development class. I think my instructor is getting annoyed that I'm not making fun elementary school smartboard lessons. Pfff.

are you planning on being at Mooch Sunday? if so, I can try to grab some boxes from school. Or I can try and drop some off after school next week. I don't know if they have any right now...

My storage unit is almost empty!!! Just your table to get rid of...

We are considering DRV again? Doesn't matter to me...but please don't change the kit colors anytime soon. I just spent more money on kits than my own work wardrobe (I know, that's not saying much).

Any thoughts on non-team gear? I've always been interested (but of course I can't buy any at the moment).

Seriously, how many threads can be created about a certian component and 20 people say "x part is the best!"

We need another tire thread.

I was thinking something more like this for the kitchen. Utah, you could probably still dial a number faster on that rotary phone then I can on my old cell phone.

The board has been kinda lame. I mean its still a good source of info for cycling in NJ but we need some new blood to add some personality.
