Sorry for the hijack Norm
I mad at segundo for taking one away like the next day. He pretty much rode to it and went home.
That's not true! I didn't target YOU specifically and you know it. I wanted to do a short/intense session, which is what I normally do during the week, and you brought this course to my attention, which is right down the hill from my house. So yes, I wanted to go and kill myself on those climbs but no, I wasn't targeting you specifically.
The funny thing is you brought me into Strava 2 weeks ago when you were bragging about the KOMs you took back from Woody and some other people (
http://www.mtbnj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11656&page=63). That day I was checking your Tour de Fat thread because I was looking for a ride to hitch on, to pull me longer than what I normally ride. I even texted you to see if you were riding that morning and, when you told me no, I told you I was going to try to figure out a way to the course you posted, You did mentioned "and what snag my KOMs. Good luck those 2 hills are killers" but honestly, I thought you were joking.
And yes, I rode to those hills and back home since this course gave me three killer hills in 1 hr of exercise without getting into the car and without riding on streets with traffic.
... Anything i get incorporates a real ride, silly i know but i find it annoying. ...
Looking at Strava I see that your distance, time & elevation gain TYD are between 4 and 5X mine, so I can see your perspective. However, what is a "real" ride is subjective and different for everyone. For me, my rides are pretty "real" (hard). Also, since can't devote more time to riding I try to go as hard as I can in my "short" week rides. BTW, the ride in which I took your KOMs was actually on the longer side of what I do during the week.
If you want to compete only with comparable/"solid" rides, then when you define your segments, you could clarify "followed by a 20+ mile ride" or something like that. Or, just define 20, 30 miles segments. Or just filter me out by weight or age.
There's no "KOM with solid ride" or "KOM on SS" or "KOM more than x lbs", etc etc. There can only be one KOM for a segment and as long as you ride the segment in a bike, it doesn't matter the rest of the ride, how many gears you have, your age, your weight or anything else.
... Maybe i will drive down and ride that section till its impossible for him to beat ; )...
If you don't consider my rides "worthy" of the KOM, then just don't pay attention and you know in your mind you are the KOM for that segment. If you care enough about the segment, by all means, drive down (or ride down from your home, same as me) and ride it until you get it back. Since I do 90% of my rides alone, this will make it interesting for me
