@Steve Vai has probably sat through a bunch of powerpoints on battery safety.
The language seems pretty vague to me 'or another testing and certification company' when most potential buyers of the product are only paying attention to its price. And again, did they confirm that all fires were caused but uncertified batteries? Once again, seems like the important thing is to do something, and rake up some money in the process, rather than actually fix a problem. I maybe jaded though...

I follow everything ebike or emtb that is for quite a bit of time now. Not once have i read of any reputable bike company having a battery explode or catch fire charging or sitting. Not saying it hasnt happened i just have not seen it or read about it.

Go to central park for a day, there is every amazon/alibaba eletricfied transporter on full display ever second you stand there. I been away from the park before this explosion but my eyes were opened when i was there last year. Its madness.

I was there Tuesday and that's all I've seen so far, everywhere. Not disputing it was one of those contraptions, I just never saw that mentioned explicitly anywhere.

If they come up with some regulation I hope it restricts the use of the ones actually dangerous and doesn't become just an excuse for just another tax with no tangible effect on safety. I know, what are the chances...

Saw this e bike by my house.

Although I'm pretty confident and trust that batteries in ebikes from reputable bike brands are safe, I'm still quite careful of charging mine. I mean, Ford Lightenings are catching fire just sitting in the parking lot.

I've sat through more e bike stuff than I care to admit. Right now I've been trying to set up our battery recycling account and they definitely don't make it easy. You have to do some online testing before they'll set it up and I can guarantee the sketchy shops aren't doing it. That means these things are in regular garbage so there's an accident waiting to happen when one goes off in a dump. It's sort of a shame price is literally all that matters to 99.9% of consumers...

This story may have been posted earlier, but legislating the bike shops is one of the bigger items too.

I'm Impressed by how many bike locks are in the picture. Looks like each battery is individually locked.

For those who maybe shopping and like some feedback. Its on enduro/trail full power bikes. This clip is an overview of the full list with award labels on the reviews. They did 13 bikes with each bike having its own review beforehand, so you can fall back to see the full review.

Lets just say i am glad i had my order in way in advance 😉

Probably the wrong thread, for that I am sorry…. Strava locks from view E-Mtb rides in Ringwood and sterling. When I post a ride as E bike( different icon) ride, it goes out. Does Strava “see” Emtb as illegal in Ringwood and sterling?

I’ve been observing people riding e-bikes and it’s not all good. Riding against traffic or inexperienced riders whipping through crowds on the boardwalk for example, what could go wrong?

Shhh, not supposed to talk about it.

The reality is it happens because previously someone would have to be pedaling hard to keep up speed now that's not the case. So while the idiots are the same they are just on a bike that makes it easier to be an idiot.
