They don’t have to wait for you. You get towed.I've ridden the Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay 2 times now. I was reluctant to try in the beginning, comparing it to the drug dealer that gives you the first hit for free and then you're hooked. The past weekend riding at Port Jervis is making me consider getting one. I always said I would consider it when I turn 60, but it was fun getting to the fast flow downhills faster without being fully spent - and doing them multiple times. I also feel better riding the regular old acoustic or analog after because of just the weight difference - almost like working out with a medicine ball or swinging a bat with a donut. My bike feels much lighter and I am faster so I can see how it could be a good tool to add into the arsenal for fun and fitness. Plus I have some friends that only ride Electric and waiting for an acoustic rider would get old after a few rides.
58 lbs a yari fork and 200/180 rotors....ugh, no thanks.Ludicrous speed option on an ebike:

I'm 60 and wondering if my next should be an e-bike knowing it will get me out more often.I've ridden the Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay 2 times now. What's keeping you from getting out more now? If its pain or injury, I don't think it will go away because you're on a pedal-assisted bike. I would focus more on they why vs. how. I think this is more important as you get older. Physical therapy has helped me more than anything else.I'm 60 and wondering if my next should be an e-bike knowing it will get me out more often.
I am out of shape. Riding more would be the solution. There have been times where I over estimated my ability to return after going out too far. An e-bike would be a safety net to ensure I can return without burning myself out. It would also allow me to get out further and enjoy time in the woods (mental health). Part of me still wants to stay analog and keep pushing. What's keeping you from getting out more now? If its pain or injury, I don't think it will go away because you're on a pedal-assisted bike. I can do a rolling wheelies running 4000w with my bac855 and 40mph on flat the fun never ends, closed course obviouslyI liked when he said he was climbing a hill at 20+ mph

What is preventing me is not having a clear picture of what is the best solution.
Do it. Even with pulmonary issues I can go out and do rides in this heat and humidity that I would never consider doing without the E-bike. Hilly, long rides don't bug me now. The only thing that does are the F'n BUGS.I'm 60 and wondering if my next should be an e-bike knowing it will get me out more often.
I found that riding my ebike at Port Jervis is where it benefits the most. If I'm an ebike dealer I would set up a tent at Port Jervis and offer free demo.I've ridden the Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay 2 times now. Being over sixty the thing I like most about my e Mtb is it turned riding in the woods into a tempo workout instead of an intervals workout. As I have aged my rides have gotten shorter because of the number of times I can put out max watts in a ride has dropped. If you find your rides are getting shorter because because you are “blowing up” on loops you want to ride, get the e bike. Interval workouts are important but as you get older tempo workouts are better for your health IMO.I'm 60 and wondering if my next should be an e-bike knowing it will get me out more often.
This train of thought is confusing but i guess everyone is different. Pedaling is a choice even on an ebike, i would think it would be about self control. If you really want to pedal a bike just turn the motor off, then you will live forever. After a year with the Orbea Rise, I realize that emtbs are not for me. Time is short. I am going to die sooner rather than later (even though I am younger than most here by a decade or two). I want to pedal a bike while I still can.
Probably going to put my bike for sale. I wouldn't buy it TBH.
May I ask what it is about the bike that has you selling it? I assume it is not the bike itself, but the pedal assist that you want to move away from? After a year with the Orbea Rise, I realize that emtbs are not for me. Time is short. Thanks Matt. I appreciate the honesty. Also good to know that Bosch is currently the leader in motors. That helps with making the choices narrower.@JerseyPete
Your in the demographic to own in ebike
You know older and wiser.
Every thing you have inquired so far in this thread says you are past due.
You can make the gradual mid power buy first but don't ride a full power for sometime. Or just get it right the first time.
Buy Bosch it's that much better then ep8. Can't speak for the others except brose which seems to have the closest feel to bosch.
The point is you will ride like your a 20 year old again. It's a fountain of youth to mountain biking. A more balanced fitness without the heart blowing up. Never the need to get off and push a bike up a hill. You'll most definitely ride more, that I can promise.
If you want to keep a analog bike make it a road or gravel bike and commit to emtbs.
Your welcome 😁
Also good to know is that @mattybfat 's last name is Orbea-Bosch... 😉Thanks Matt. I appreciate the honesty. Also good to know that Bosch is currently the leader in motors. That helps with making the choices narrower.
Thanks.
