Equilibrium while traversing the Matrix

I think baldpate gets a bad rap..........it is a very over looked option giving the geographic location.

As I said to someone recently, if you are local, Baldpate, etc is a valuable spot. It is not a goto destination for anyone outside of the geographic area. When I lived in Robbinsville, I didn't rave about Mercer or Clayton. It was just a convenient local option.

Fair enough, I rode at mercer twice this past week and almost willingly rode into the partially frozen lake to put myself out of my misery.

I still say given the amount of off road mileage you can get between the combo of the parks, it is a looked over option.

Busy day today... My son's wrestling team hosted a tournament at home and I was the lucky computer literate guy who was nominated to run the bouts and scoring system. We has 130+ matches today. 8am - 2pm

Then coached AJ's basketball game at 3pm
Then got home at 4pm and was out the door for an long and slow endurance road ride. I stopped to eat some fig newtons at the end of this driveway.

I didn't think I was going to be able to ride today with everything going on and the weather.

Thanks for reading!

Work out today was on the trainer, same as last week. Instead of listening to music, I watched TV. I watched What On Earth. Some crazy stuff about satellite imagery of earth and discoveries and supporting theories. Last week's trainer effort was 1:45 which was too long for my liking and today I cut the rest time in between intervals / sets to get the total time to 1:30. That was bearable.

Featherweight diet - Was on the lighter side of the calorie count today. I decided today I'd like to try to get to 145 by the end of January, then 143 by the end of Feb, then 140 by the end of March and maintain that through the summer. That will be roughly 6 - 7lbs in three months.

Pre breakfast: Mocha and Banana
Breakfast: The usual smoothie
Lunch: Turkey over salad

Mid afternoon: Mocha and then rabbit food. (Baby carrots, peppers and an orange). Dipped the carrots in hummus.
Post trainer - Protein shake
Dinner: Turkey pot pie - I ate half of it. Love me some pot pie

Two workouts today
1. Back and Bi's at lunch
2. 5k run after work. https://www.strava.com/activities/469827427

Featherweight diet - I'm about a pound over where I want to be by the end of the month. I'll try to hit it this week and then maintain it for a couple weeks. I've dialed back some calories by cutting out the eggs and bagel for breakfast and now I will cut out desert until I hit the mark.

Prebreakfast: Mocha and Coffee
Breakfast: Smoothie
Post Gym: Protein Shake
Lunch (Mid afternoon): Birdseed, Rabbit food and an Orange
Dinner: Pork chop, Sweet potato and a huge salad
Desert: Nothing - It's a sad day

Music: I've been listening to all kinds of new music lately and there are so many bands that play great music but ruin it with a growling singer.

I'm feeling nostalgic this evening and decided to listen to some old David Bowie - David Bowie was on regular rotation when I was a little kid: RIP

Core work today in the gym. sit ups, several variation of planks, yoga, scissors. Last night's run resulted in some sore muscles which reminded me I need to spend more time stretching in the winter. Muscles get angry in the cold.

I saw 145.2 this morning on the scale and as I sit here typing this, I don't know if I want to eat because I'm hungry or because I'm used to eating at this time. I have lots of hours of riding Fri, Sat and Sun so I might as well eat.

Featherweight diet - slight variations
Pre breakfast: Banana and Mocha
Breakfast: Smoothie with tumeric for the sore muscles
Post gym: Protein shake
Lunch: Orange, pineapple, baby bell peppers, baby carrots, Oatmeal (Oats, Almonds, Walnuts, Chia, Honey, Cinnamon)
Dinner: The other half of the left over turkey pot pie
Desert: A couple bowls of rice crispies with almond milk

Wrestling practice was cancelled this evening and I was motivated by @The Heckler Devo reference to go dig through some old vinyl in the basement. I listened to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avon_Calling

Wow - I can't believe I haven't updated this since Thursday...

Diet - the same. I increased my calories due to all the activity over the weekend. But after Sunday's ride, I pigged out. I can't turn away Aunt Bev's home made coffee cake. Plus Stef's BBQ pulled pork with cole slaw and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. And Ghirardelli brownies. That pig out, carried over into Monday.

Pig out

Work outs

Friday: Doubled up.
- Sanity Check - I rode with Kev at lunch. I think I was on the edge of some sort of bike addicted withdrawal thing and Kev helped me break the momentum.
- That evening, hopped on the trainer and did a bunch of big ring intervals. They hurt more than I expected.

Saturday - It was a crazy busy day but the weather enabled me to catch up on some things around the outside of the house. Some REALLY late fall cleanup items I neglected... I straightened up my garage and finally got rid of all the boxes and cardboard from Christmas, I fixed Wifey's slow leak. Then we took Cameron to his wrestling tourney. Came home, ate dinner and then around 8:30 jumped on the trainer and did FTP intervals. they weren't any worse than I remember them. I was concerned because I had a very large ride lined up on Sunday and being that it was 10pm when I finished, I didn't know if Sunday morning, I'd die if I got on the bike.

Wrestling lyf

Sunday - Headed up to the land of @The Heckler and @Dutch Frog for some elevation. As I'm greeted at the door, Matt tells me @pearl is also joining us - at first I was like - FAWK, three young guns that are known for fast climbing but then I was like - Nice, I get to ride with Pearl before he leaves for NC. So I got a tour of Casa de Heckler / Dutch Frog and then we hit the road. This was an awesome ride. Maybe a total of 1 mile of flat out of the the entire 48 mile loop. Lots of ups, excellent views, good quality scenic rolling and twisty roads, some dirty climbing as well and AWESOME descents. These guys put together a really fun ride - Nice job Gents! Made it home in time to coach my son's basketball game. Then right after that, we hosted a birthday party for my oldest son. By the end of the night, as soon as the last guest left, I hit the couch and passed out. I was beat.

Monday - I rested. Motivated by @jShort recent post of him organizing his gear, I reorganized my closet and all my bike gear. My closet is now organized like this:
Left - Adulting (Work clothes)
Right - Non Adulting (Bike and work out clothes)

Today - I'll double up the work outs. Chest and Tri's at lunch in the gym and trainer after dinner. No more pigging out.

Music - I delivered a crate of vinyl to Matt and Zac on Sunday. I have a bunch of old stuff that these guys like to sift through. I gave them a crate at Granogue and whatever they want they can keep. I took some extra time Friday and Saturday night to sift through a couple more crates to pull out some 70 / 80s new age stuff. I remember Zac and I talking about that at one of the cross races so I figured he'd enjoy some of that.

Dude, thanks for coming over. that ride was a lot of fun! I wish I was behind you and @pearl to see you catch air heading down towards lake rd. The Air/Drift into corner on the road bike at 40 mph must have been a sight to see...

I saw Pearl hit it and decided to hit it and when I landed realized how fast I was going and tapped the rear breaks and just leaned it in and the rear breaks were so touchy, the back end just wanted to slide so I held on for the ride. SO FUN! I didn't realize how much it slid until Matt was screaming like I was going to die. HAHAHAHA! Good Times!
